For me ,the main course is Nasi Kerabu with daging bakar, salted duck egg, lots of bean sprouts and garnishes, budu and lots of solok.Besides that, i am addicted to ayam golek, ayam percik and murtabak.
For dessert, kuih pelita, akok Kelantan, Malay kuihs (dunno many of their names Drinks, bancau( air bandung + cincau) water is a must and its nice to have original cincau once in a while. But the best drink for breaking the fats is teh bunga, which is so smells so nice when u drink it. What's ur favourite food to break fast with. Anyway, bersederhanalah semasa berbuka puasa, dont get stomach ache. |

[/quote] No lah, these are the food i break fast throughout the fasting month, my pocket is not that deep , but i break fast with my friends and we always 'pakat' to buy different kuihs and share them together. Of course, i will always bite the date first before the other food, i now have my second box of rotab dates. The best dates that i ever had was the tunisian dates, quite expensive but i like the dates coz they taste a bit like banana. I say, most kuihs, especially the Kelantan akok are very expensive like 6 akok for RM2, and they are so small though the last time i went to Kelantan , u can but a bag full of akok with RM2. Takpela..worth it. Nasi dagang is also my favourite, but only some people know how to make authentic nasi dagang and near my home, there is only one mak cik sell nasi dagang, they are so good that even the non muslims would compete for them. I always wanted to eat 'ikan pari' panggang with kuah asam until now, but few people sell them at the pasars and you have queue for a long time to get them in KL, when its ur turn, it'd be finished. Tried to buy ikan pari several times and failed. |

QUOTE (caramel @ Oct 27 2005, 07:40 PM) I don't really bite dates, i like to peel it first to extricate the seed, put in my mouth and let the flavour melt onto my mouth and the sweet aroma to penetrate my nostrils. It is worth it to eat the dates first. |

Dudes, fasting month is the time to do things in moderation, but what talk of nasi dagang and ikan pari and ayam golek and nasi kerabu etc, it would seem that the pasar ramadan sellers are making good profit this year, again.
My favourite type of date is the kurma nabi. But they're so expensive. Like Iron said caramel, breaking the fast with dates is not compulsary at all, but it is 'sunah' or recommended. I like to break my fast with something sweet, like air mata kucing. And tau foo fah afterwards. |

I sayl, some of those food they sell at Ramadan bazaars only appear at Ramadan and quite expensive too, you'd spend about RM3-6 every visit and that's quite a lot for me for one meal, some of my friends once bought food and did not realized he spent RM10++, apparently, he bought 12 akoks that cost RM6. Pasar malams are sources to get good food for college students like me, rambang mata bile pegi shopping. You should try eating vanilla ice cream with dates, very delicious. |
