I was trying to get a diff. car, so we get estimate how would the total cost, they give it to us then went to get a loan, I got approved to that certain car on that amount. My cousin who is a sale car guy heard us getting a new car so he told me to come check out his workplace so I did, while he was good talking me to get a car on his dealership, turns out he had no control over the price. The car I was interested has $25100 MRSP, I end up getting if for $28000 total (with fees and tax), with 4.172% tax in my state, is this a good deal or got rip off? The thing was that they were so hesitant to give me the car for that amount that they advice me to get a diff. car instead but I said I'll come back another day 'cuz I really like that car, so they keep sending me to their sale booth.

Geez, dealerships needs to make money. You also need to pay tax, taxing a car is a lot, it runs over a grand. Theres also fees for other stuff too.

why do car maufactures state that its a 2011 model when the car is built in 2010?
I dont get it. I think you got ripped off with the deal, usually car dealers do package driveaway deals thesedays where you dont have to pay anymore tax, did you even shop around from different dealerships? |

Car dealerships are a good place to buy cars if you know what you're doing.
They make money on the car (delivery charge and in the MSRP) and trade in and the loan. The good deal depends on the car and the demand for the car (hot models require more money than MSRP or more patience) In these times of internet, you can often go through the internet office and get the bottom line on what the dealership is willing to sell the car at. You can also get an idea of what others paid for your car. Look at Edmunds.com or KBB.com or even overstock.com and check out their cars section. Did you get a good deal?? Who knows?? You left too much detail out of your transaction. And there is so much research that must be done before anyone can say one way or the other. |
