Taiwanese LEDs illuminate Shanghai
http://www.taipeitimes.com/News/biz/archiv...5/25/2003473835 STAFF WRITER, WITH CNA Tuesday, May 25, 2010, Page 12 Taiwanese light-emitting diode (LED) companies are shining at this year’s Shanghai Expo in China, showcasing innovations such as the world’s largest LED screen at the grand opening. As the world’s top LED manufacturer and exporter, Taiwan dominates the LED market in China. The “Made in Taiwan” label is easily found at the exhibition, with Neo-Neon International Ltd (真明麗), a Taipei-based company, providing the LED lighting techniques seen in the 2,300-unit system on the Expo Culture Center’s performance stage. Other Taiwanese firms include Opto Tech Corp (華凌光電), Genesis Photonics Inc (新世紀光電), Unity Opto Technology Co (東貝光電), Everlight Electronics Co (億光電子) and Epistar Corp (晶元光電), which is Taiwan’s largest maker of chips that run LEDs in mobile phones. In 2008, Taiwan’s LED lighting production amounted to US$14.4 billion. The Bureau of Energy recently predicted that the sector’s production value could reach US$168.8 billion by 2015. Actually I want to know. How many Taiwan companies earn from LED sell?
Isn't most of the component and licenses came from Japan and German? Probably 80% of the profit went to Japan and German pocket. |
