a movie by riri riza, the casts are Nicholas Saputra ( u'll see his curly long hair again in this movie) and a new comer...dont know her name...

there's a very hot scene in this movie, and that hot scenes is cut in indonesia and can only be seen when the movie is played in int'l festival.....
this movie will only be played in 3 cities and u should show ur ID that u r 18+

well, riri seems to like this kind of genre, a picture of how life is going on, a journey in a very short time

the new comer is Adinia Wirasti and btw she's not a new comer...she played in AADC as Karmen, in Tentang Dia as Rudy...and in Ruang....

and Janji Joni is not Riri's movie...its Joko Anwar's movie.....Riri Riza is a good road movie director....he was awarded as Best young Director in Spore Intl Film Fest for his movie : Eliana-Eliana...and this movie itself was crowned as The Best 25 movies all time in Indonesia Movie History....and yes, indeed...it deserves it... IMO this movie is the best movie among Riri Riza's movie

New info: RCTI is gonna held Indonesian Movie Awards next month. They said it's gonna be different than FFI coz they will only give awards for actors, actress and directors. There will be no technical awards such as lighting, or editing, etc. Weird, huh? And the nominess are all movies from 2005 to 2007. FFI winner Ekskul didn't participate because the producer didn't register it. IMA will be hosted by Jamie Aditya.

Three women from different backgrounds wrestle with the soul-crushing binds of polygamy in "Love for Share," a frank treatment of a normally taboo subject that's strong on heartfelt sympathy but weak on construction. Helmer Nia Dinata, whose "Arisan!" featured the first Indonesian onscreen gay kiss, doesn't shy from difficult topics, but here her script cries out for greater focus and a firmer hold on development. Pic's future won't extend beyond scattered fest dates.
While each story is self-contained, characters intersect in small ways. Weakest segment is the first: On discovering her husband's ever-increasing harem, ob/gyn Salma (Jajang C. Noer) struggles to reconcile her role as obedient Muslim wife with her sense of betrayal. In a crowded slum, Siti (Shanty) chafes as her uncle's third bride, redefining her sense of individuality in the arms of fellow wife Dwi (Rieke Diah Pitaloka). Flirtatious Ming (Dominique) tries to use a secret marriage to the boss for her own ends, but wife number one isn't feeling generous. Second segment was shot in Super 16, giving the grittier atmosphere a much-needed air of reality especially lacking in part one. Shifts in story-lines are clumsily handled.

^ Agree I support them too. Some peeps think this action is childish. I disagree with their opinion. If this thing happen and happen again next time, the future of indo movies will be dark again.

In a state where the justice is done at the street, a cop namely Eros must face a dead case of 5 people who are killed by the mass. The investigation brings Eros into a dangerous labyrinth and meets a bunch of brutal and powerful people pursue valuable thing that Eros doesn’t aware of.

At the same time, there is a journalist namely Janus who suffers a narcolepsy and also investigate the same case for his newspaper. A person before suicide gives him a big secret and Janus starts being hound by powerful people who want that secret too. But no one realize that a power that’s not come from a human also works to protect the secret and there’s only one person who has destined to keep it.

Janus is having the worst day in his life. His boss fires him as a journalist and his wife divorces him for the same reason: narcolepsy, a disturbing in the brain that makes him falls a sleep when he faces unintended emotional such as: sickness, worry and surprise. But that day he will begin the biggest adventure in his life, when his news subject brings him to the high conspiracy labyrinth full of mystery and dangerous. Janus then realizes that what he considers as only a disturbing brain, perhaps a signal from something really big and out of human’s logic, that makes him being chased by some powerful people.

According to Joko Anwar, KALA is a thriller mystery with noir style. Place and time are not important since it emphasizes dark fantasy. Noir style in movies appeared in 1940’s or 1950’s and generally to support suspenseful stories. The black and white visual and sometimes sephia with low lighting, which is known as low-key cinematography technique, dominates KALA. Low-key cinematography itself came from German expressionist cinematography.

KALA also use antique furniture and properties for this movie such as old buildings, cars, public phone, etc. Director Joko Anwar said he wanted to make unusual film which combine art and commercial sides.

it will be like US Screen Actors Guild Award. So,its not weird....IMO they should give awards for TV actors too, not only movies....

Opera Jawa won THE BEST FILM ASIA 2007 @ The 20th Singapore Film Festival 2007 (27 April 2007)!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/yahoo.gif) and for that Opera Jawa received the most prestigious award Silver Screen Award. And the best part of it: Opera Jawa beat China's 2007 Oscar nominee movie (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rockon.gif)

It means this is the 3rd international awards for Opera Jawa (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

Saw on RCTI, they having a Movie Award. When will that be?

Singapore had a Film Festival. Opera Jawa and another Indonesian show which i've forgotten had good respond abt the show. And according to the newspaper, the Opera Jawa was great and it had won many awards.
