Maybe they aren't that aware of preventives like other nations..They said it in a documentary I've watched a few years ago in geography lesson..But I think that just refers to the people living in rural places..

Yes, before it was africa has the biggest number of AIDS victim. But now, its india... maybe because they are the second biggest population. Is it true that indians like anal sex? I think its one causes of getting that disease.

These numbers my be correct, where are the numbers for India,I would be willing to bet that they are very high.AIDS is not becoming an epidemic in India,it is a epidemic. The only thing that separates India from Africa when it comes to AIDS,Africa population contracted ,most of the disease when it was relatively unknown about.India's population is still spreading like wild fire.I am not defending Africa, but in India the rate of AIDS is growing with such veracity that the government expects that INDIA'S economy will be negatively affected in as little as five years from now.You do the math. |

It could maybe be because of the total population is growing incredibly fast in india, 2003 when i did research in india 55 % of the WHOLE indien population was UNDER 25 Years old. That makes you sometimes worry. Anyway, maybe because in India protection is very rarely used.

(( HIV & AIDS STATISTICS))
QUOTE India has a population of one billion, around half of whom are adults in the sexually active age group, with a large number below this age group. The first AIDS case in India was detected in 1986, and since then, HIV infection has been reported in all States and Union Territories. The spread of HIV in India has been diverse, with much of India having a low rate of infection and the epidemic being most extreme in the southern States. 96% of the total number of nationally reported AIDS cases were found in 10 of the 28 States and 7 Union Territories, the worst being Maharashtra in the west, Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry in the south, and Manipur in the north-east. In Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu the infections are mostly due to heterosexual contact, while infections are mainly found amongst injecting drug users (IDU) and their sexual partners in Manipur QUOTE Region & Newly infected adults & children with HIV during 2003#

India's Aids epidemic is an endemic response to some of the social structures within in India, we are talking about mainly disgruntled lorry drivers (the biggest problem) who visit prostitutes on their travel. Whilst on a excursion from their wives they seek sexual intercourse with many of these aids laden maidens. Then when they get back to their homes, they infect their wives, this vicious and horrid circle will bring India to it’s knees.
I believe that sex education is not the answer, rather sexual education as a means of avoiding sex to catch these diseases, Indian culture is very repressed, this leads to a complicated quandary, the people in power need to find a middle ground before they go onto teach people how to protect themselves against aids. You cannot stop aids with simple scare tactics and misinformation. India is so huge because of its lack of knowledge of sex, people have too much of it, without contraception’s or barriers, yielding more children than they can support, i.e. another factor of poverty. Rural areas must be reached and taught not to engage in sexual activity unless the people involved can handle the consequences. Anal sex increases the chance of aids, but regular vaginal sex is the largest cause of aids in the world, since the proportion of those engaging in anal sex in India is minimal and unsanitary :S India has a growing problem which it MUST tackle, or we could see swathes of generations fall ill to this devastating disease, on the equinox of our development, we cannot have such things destroying our nation! |

Rural areas must be reached and taught not to engage in sexual activity unless the people involved can handle the consequences. Actually, I think that the reason most Indians have many children is because they like large families (silimar to Irish and Italian Catholics). Also, for those that own factories and farms, more people are needed for work. Also, many children did not survive after childbirth in the old days, another reason why many would often have large amounts of kids.... to ensure that at least some would survive. |

That is the common and often obvious assumption made by people. So far you have said the catholics do the same?, well catholicism prohibits the use of contraceptives, thus supporting further what I said.
As toward the whole farming thing, I think you are way of the mark, if you had told me this in 1970, I would have agreed, since the developing nature of India was stagnating with death rates rampant amid the the population, thus more children were born to keep up the population, thus then this explanation would have suficed, but now I dont think so. Education is a major part in making people understand the consequences of their actions, if you teach people having sex multiple times without using contraceptives increases their chance of having far more children than they can handle with their own economic extension, you will see people change their minds. India now hands money to people who abstain from having more than 2 kids, You need these kind of incentives and education to make people realize that, if they want to forward their nation, they need to make sure they are apart of the system too.. |

Speaking of banning contraceptives....what about the Eastern Orthodox Church?
I've seen plenty of Ukraininan immigrants with families of 7+ people....... Anyways, even if contraceptives and whatnot are available, it will rely on the people to be sucessful. In my opinion, people will need to willingly use them for the program to be sucessful. Forced contraception practices may lead to a backlash like the 70's when secretive sterelization procedues were discovered and led to a backlash against the government. |
