Perodua’s upcoming Kelisa and Kancil Replacement Model is due to be launched in the middle of this year, somewhere around June or July, replacing it’s 13-year old Kancil and 5-year old Kelisa models, reported The Edge Daily. The Perodua Kancil has been somewhat of an asset to the Malaysian automotive industry, and Malaysians themselves, allowing low-income families who use motorcycles to upgrade to a 4-wheeled vehicle due to it’s low entry price.

Rumours have been going around that the Kancil would be retained as an ultra-low end model, with the new car replacing only the Kelisa, but Perodua managing director Syed Hafiz Syed Abu Bakar has cleared these doubts, saying Perodua will have a single model serving the 1 liter and below segment. Some specifications of the new car have been released by Perodua - the 1.0 liter Kancil Replacement Model will come in both manual and automatic transmissions, but there will also be manual-only variants in both 660cc and 850cc form. All 3 engine variants will feature electronic fuel injection and DVVT dynamic variable valve timing.

Perodua has also learned from the Perodua Myvi’s overwhelming runaway success - instead of stockpiling only 1,000 units for the launch orders which was done for the Myvi, the upcoming Perodua Kancil and Kelisa Replacement Model would have between 2,000 to 3,000 cars stockpiled to cater to demand. Production capacity will be 7,000 units monthly.

Perodua’s new Kancil and Kelisa Replacement model is expected to account for 30% of sales this year, with a remaining 40% expected to comprise of Perodua Myvi variants, and 30% for all other models. As for the new car’s name, it isn’t revealed yet, but most people have started referring to it as the Perodua Viva. Spyshots of these car have been captures since end-2005, so we’ve been waiting for this one for more than a year now.

IMO that's not a good-looking car at all. It's too bulky, too roundish, designs are too solid ...

But let's just hope it scores high on the practicality and low-fuel-consumation rate so at least it'll have a market among practical users who do not really go for style.

The bumper is awkward. It'd be OK if the body's color is the same as the bumper.

The tyres looks awkwardly small too.

But it's cheap it's OK.

hm... i jes thought that proton hv their own style and uniquness, especially since perdana, waja, savvy etc.kancil design?? look thru it carefully, jest my opinion that probably to cut cost ot mother machine, die and molds, perodua management successfully tied a contract from japanese companies to buy things that i mentioned above. aint it looks like passo afterall??

Typical Malaysian comments. icon_confused.gif
If it's by Mercedes or BMW, I'm sure you've got positive comments no matter how ugly the car is.

typical means majority right?? so, if most people said so, then, its really is. if u said that this car is amazingly beautiful, i respect ur view. but some malaysian made cars have nice designs.. for me myvi, perdana, waja, gen 2 r nice.. biggthumpup.gif

If this car is made by Proton/Perodua, I don't think people would see it as nice.

kelisa and other small car actually a hit in SG...people who opted for weekend cars (can drive only from 7pm-7am and whole day of weekends and PH)

Cuz its so cheap..S15,000 ...10 years loan you pay $193 per month

Its an instant hit...especially nowadays the kelisa is painted using 2 colour tones juz like the mini

You are right bro....this is what I hear most times when new car are being introduced ...people criticised like crazy as if they know better than the designer

the best part is that....in the end ...they swallow their own spit by buying the car after all laugh.gif
