oh and it's by Taipei Times, so pan-green and pro-Japan they have more praise in Japan than Japanese.

And it's better for the Chinese because they'll be so cocky and attack us or something, and get their balls cut.

PRC no match for Japan's military

http://www.taipeitimes.com/News/editorials...4/25/2003358172

By Huang Shou-li 黃守禮

Dude if you're going to start a topic can you at least use a *quality* article for reference? This Huang Shou Li guy is full of brilliant gems like

"Japan has 203 F-15Js, a refined F-15K"
all of japan's F-15J's were built in early 80's. only a few were upgraded they are nothing in the class of F-15K

either he misquotes or quotes an idiot
"Japan can annihilate China's air force within one day and destroy its navy within two days"
even the iraq air force wasn't annilhated in one day. this guy doesn't even give an engagement scenario. obvious an amateur making reckless nationalistic bluster. Compare to the USAF commander stationed in Japan, who says they can no longer penetrate Chinese air space. Now if Sato said China can annihilated Japan in one hour, period, he'd be closer to the mark, yes? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/all_coholic.gif)

everything else in the article is like how a five year old would compare militaries. the author has no clue how weapons are actually used to fight. well looks like you got enough abuse already from others so I'll stop there.

Honestly, Japan is finished in terms of military capabilities. It is almost completely under the U.S control.

Hardly, on both points. The Japanese are operating more independently on their own (indeed, when they sent support ships to help out with Operation Enduring Freedom in 2001, they did so independently, not even under U.N. auspices.)

And "finished in terms of military capabilities?" When such a military has $40 billion in defense spending (a very hefty sum compared to many world nations,) and is one of the few nations that possesses Aegis, has a large fleet of F-15s and F-2s, etc., and also has one of the world's top R&D and high-tech infrastructures?

Wright, who was at this air base on Japan's southern island of Okinawa to meet with local commanding officers, said the improvement in Chinese air defenses has made China's airspace "difficult if not impossible" to penetrate with the kind of U.S. fighters — F-15s and F-16s — now deployed in Japan.

Thank you. Do you think the USAF would use F-15s and F-16s to open up Chinese airspace or as follow on strike and attack platforms?

I think maybe the older F15's can fill the bomb craters in the runways.

There are plenty of threads on AF concerning the F-22. If you're interested, check them out.

Again, the old concept of "kicking down the doors;" the stealths punch down PLA air defenses like S-300 while the older non-stealthy jets come in to carry out strike missions. As Baal says, this has been discussed numerous times before.

1) Use F-22A's to knock out early warning systems.
2) Send in the F-35's and B-2's for SEAD.
3) Roll out the bomb trucks (B-1B, B-52, F-15E, etc.) and annihilate everything else.

Simple, yet very effective.

do you get a huge sense of power everytime you pretend to make a subtle hint, but they're not really subtle at all? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/help.gif)

Well I hope America fights war like some Jenny Craig 3 step program.

result of step 1) unlike iraq, ground radars are actually defended by type-730 anti missile guns
result of step 2) unlike iraq, satellite intel nonexistent. don't know what to target with b2's
result of step 3) unlike iraq, chinese fighters actually come out at night, smoke your EW with home on jam

reason to request jenny craig refund: china 100 times the mass than iraq

No, China is only 22 times the size of Iraq.

At night? Why not in the daytime too? (It’s not like Chinese fighters have anything that would give them an advantage over American fighters at night time.)

even against iraq in 1990 usa emphasized their night missions, because iraq fighters couldn't fly at night and because of AAA. chinese has several hundreds modern night fighters, and generally has much better situation awareness at night than iraq so USA is not at any advantage (except for their stealth fighters). now the stealth fighters they are a big problem IF china allows them to become used to their full potential. that is with full awacs support, data networks, information dominance, base support. china intends to attack all these systems which support the stealth operations. remember usa does not have many land bases to bring to the war, only one is in close range, and the others have a political problem to use. if you have just one bases even with excellent aircraft you can't put up enough sorties to sustain air superiority. most the fighting will have to be borne by carrier aircraft that's why they get so much attention. china's latest fighters have a good edge over the carrier planes, which have operational issues compared to land based air in the first place.
