Just curious....
Anybody have info on aswang? or aswang heritage or families? We just recently found out that we might be descendants, and when we ask our parents about it, they freak out and don't like to talk about it. Thanks, Estrella & Melba |

we dont really think we are descendants, we just thought it would be nice to know a little about what really makes our parents mad. we aren't white by the way and we aren't those gothic types.

many say taht the aswang is a curse, disease. some call them a ritualistic religion of a shadowy sect.
but i wouldn't call them vampires, because vampires only come out at night, only drink blood, and can spawn other vampires, but cannot have children or so popular culture say. vampires are also immortals, and don't grow old. there are a variety of type of aswangs, some call them differently by their type some from the regions they came from. lakaw is one term, for a specific type of shpae shifting aswang. aswangs are also classified of whatever innards tehy eat, most are known to eat liver and other parts. shapeshifting is one of their characteristic. but not to all. they can change into animals and they usually turn into ones that are of black color, and usually are of bigger stature or size than normal specie of that animal. and also faster. i would tell you stories and firstahand accounts from my dad and his side of the family, they moved alot and stayed in many isolated regions that may harbor such stories true before moving in manila, and they are visayan for crying out loud, where the aswangs are known to have started. but i don't have time right now bra, i guess next time. i guess you can check out the manananggal thread that wqas posted way way back. that would help you out a bit i think. |
