i know this may seem dumb
so, i just got my first paycheck from my summer job im only going to be working in the summer and i dont really plan on opening an account yet so, can i just cash the check? can i just go up to the bank teller to cash it, and do i have to write any slip for it or sign on the back of the check or something? i really dont know the process. also, i do need ID right? but im not 18 and the only ID i have is my school ID. and Do i have to be with an adult? i think the bank takes fees, how much do they take off for taxes or fees? QUOTE(christine101 @ Jul 9 2007, 12:25 PM) i know this may seem dumb so, i just got my first paycheck from my summer job im only going to be working in the summer and i dont really plan on opening an account yet so, can i just cash the check? can i just go up to the bank teller to cash it, and do i have to write any slip for it or sign on the back of the check or something? i really dont know the process. also, i do need ID right? but im not 18 and the only ID i have is my school ID. and Do i have to be with an adult? i think the bank takes fees, how much do they take off for taxes or fees? You can go anywhere to cash it. If you dont have an account at a bank, you can even go to a grocery store and buy a few items otherwise they will charge you a small fee. If you go to a bank, have your ID ready. No need ot have an adult with you. There are also check cashing services to go to just about in every city. They also will charge you a small fee. |

all you need is to prove that you are the person named on that check, some times places would ask for a second i.d, but over all, you shouldnt have any problems...

Why not just open an account? Some banks offer accounts with no fees and no minimums.
