Sorry to kill the romance but it's all about the goddamn money these days.

Say you meet a girl at a bar. She seems perfect. She's attractive physically. You and her have lots to talk about. Then you talk about your respective careers and it turns out she fu-king makes twice as much as you. Jesus fu-k. That ruins everything. embarassedlaugh.gif

Call me an old-fashioned bigot but I can't handle a girl making a lot more than me.

And if you date these sort of girls, not only will you feel the pressure from her to make more money, but you'll also feel the pressure from her family, your family and even from friends. Some people are just meant to not make a lot of money.

What a soul destroyer. $hit. icon_smile.gif

Then you know what I'm talking about.

Maybe short-term romance may work but it would never work out in the long run.

Career matters above all these days.

I think you know what I'm talking about. Even if I let that $hit go, other people won't let it go.

Agreed. Sometimes it's nice being the bread winner.

But if you're still working general retail (like at the mall,) then yes, you're fu-ked

Yeah it doesn't matter to me at all too. But an interesting study I remember reading a summary in psychology was that woman with more wealth tend to have tastes for and want real good looking men than those who were less rich. Hence, yes, sometimes you see beautiful women with average or ugly looking guys who are loaded with money.

It makes me uncomfortable. However, it really depends on what else she does.

Does she rub it in? "Honey, I make so much more than you do. God you fail to provide"
Does she compare me to other men? "There's this guy at my work who makes 3x more than you do. Plus, you have a small penis"
Does she take on other traditional aspects of the household? "Hey b!tch, go make me dinner."
Does she take on other aspects typhically relegated to the paternal/masculine figure? "Bend over. I'm going to make you feel beautiful"

money was never an issue in our relationship....
i found a job first... now we both have jobs but i earn more than he does..
he's working full time while i'm working part time....

i never nag about money even if he spends a lot more than i do...
it shouldn't really matter..

there's many things that could offset her income...if you're better looking, better personality, more interesting, more universally talented (income only reflects talent in one aspect), etc

just say "i'm too down to earth to make that much money"

I don't think those girls with successful careers who make a lot of money appreciate "down to earth" men. they're most likely looking for someone equal or even more ambitious and amazing than they are.

you'd be surprised, there's many highly-cerebral women out there who lack very basic skills, but for many high-income jobs, that's all you need

and saying "i'm too down to earth to make that much money" is more of a semi-taunting joke statement towards their assumed lack of experience and opportunities for the other aspects of life, not meant to describe yourself really

id rather work a job that pays only average rather than marry a girl who made a lot of money and becoming a househusband.
