Latin America generically refers to the area from Mexico to Tierra del Fuego!
Yes Mexico is in North America!

Chinese in Argentina

Locals watch the dragon dance during a temple fair held in the China Street in Buenos Aires, capital of Argentina, Jan. 25, 2009. A Chinese temple fair was held in the China Street on Sunday to celebrate the Chinese Lunar New Year.

Suriname is about 44% Asian: 27% from the Indian Subcontinent, 15% Javanese (Indonesia), and 1.8% Chinese. This is not counting Southwest Asians.

Guyana is 43.5% Indian from India.

French Guiana is 3.2% Chinese and 1.5% Hmong.

There are about 200,000 Filipinos in Mexico especially around Michoacán, Guerrero, and Colima, and they account for 0.2% of the population.

QUOTE (JakeCutter @ Feb 16 2008, 01:01 AM) *
I've noticed that a lot of the members live in the US and Asia. Some from Australia, Canada, Europe and even Africa. Now I'm curious if there are any from Latin America on this site. Latin America is diverse, maybe not to the extent of the US and Canada, but they have quite the melting pots themselves. I want to hear about what Asians have to say about the countries they live in.

So, if there's anyone living anywhere on this map:

Share your experiences and opinions here.

I'm from Okinawan descent. My grandfather went to Brazil at 1920 when my father was only 2 years old and all family
reunited in Brazil at 1930. Since then we stayed in Brazil. I have 3 daughters and and a son. My granddaughter is 6 month old. The main asian immigrants in Brazil are from japanese descent or related(more than 1.5 million people). From wikipedia the other 2 immigrant groups of east-asian descent are Koreans(estimated 250000 people) and Chinese(estimated 200000 people). I don't know if wikipedia information about Koreans being more numerous than chinese in Brasil is reliable. In my daily life's experience I find more people of chinese ethnicity.
