^^In my opinion, Chinese should be loyal to Indonesia!!.
First of all, we, the chinese arent all treated with evilish treatements. What have you written may only based on what you might read or listen. You might not even have experienced such horrible things being practised on you. Secondly, I assumed that you are a chinese. As a chinese, you might have grown up in an enviroment of "anti-native". Your parents, uncles, aunts, grandparents or ancestors might have rarely or often condemning, criticizing and insulting the "Indons". With such environment and attitude, a naive boy will be easily provoked, influenced and grew with hostility towards a certain group of people. What can you expect from a naive boy ? He doesnt possess strong conscience and maturity to filter out the things that he heard, especially from their parents and other older family members. This type of situation makes the reproduction of hostile generation continues. Perhaps only the ancestors that being treated horribly, but the hatred, anger, fury and vengeance being passed down to their descendants. Hence making them in doubt to be loyal to the land which have raised them. Thirdly, the chinese here are majority not the first generation that came from mainland, China. They are 3rd, 4th, 5th,... generations. So, they were born, raised and grew up in this bloody land!!, Indonesia. So I think, like or don't like this is their homeland. The land that has protected them from the hardship that their ancestors tried to escape when they stepped their feet onto this archipelago. Hence, do the chinese owe to this land ? Then shouldn't them be loyal to it ?

However, we can't deny the fact that these poor treatments towards the chinese do exist. In the past, during Soeharto regime, the chinese were definitely treated in an unpleasant way. We have less freedom and discriminated in front of the law. We need to show the letter that stated we are the citizens of RI. Without that letter, the chinese cant apply for credit from banks, cant make a pasport, etc. But, it was the past. Now, the time has changed. The situation had improved tremendously compared to decades ago.

To conclude, the chinese shall be grateful. Their ancestors had opted to emigrate and came to indonesia to search for a better life for their descendants. And we all have bad times. But definitely we cant forget the sweet times we have here just because of that little unpleasant moments. My opinion is don't forget your root, chinese, but be loyal and remember the place that has shaded you in time of crisis and hardship.

with love,
skyisdalimit.
LOLOL.

I feel confused reading your letter above (in bold and bigger font size).

I should clarify your statements because I believe yours are not true.

From my observations, all Chinese (not just their ancestors/grandparents/parents/aunts/so on) are being racistly treated by Indons. Racist riots in May 1998 is a legitimate examples of racism in Indon. All Chinese, including Indons who look like Chinese, were attacked by Indons everywhere all over Indon. And until now, 10 years later, not a single rapist have been detained by Police. Not a single masterminders of the racist riots have been put into the court. It is very clear that Indons have no intention to protect Chinese. If those racist rioters are not put into justice, Chinese will be attacked again in the future. Everybody will think that it is easy to racistly attack Chinese in Indon without punishment at all.

Secondly, you said that young Chinese grow up in environment of "anti - native". I believe you twist the facts. It is not young Chinese who grow up in racist environment. On the contrary, it is Indons (all ages) who grow up in "anti - Chinese" environment. It is Indons who attack Chinese, not Chinese who attack Indons.

Third, Indon term is not an insult for Indonesians. On the contrary, we Indons who feel inferior because Indon term means Malays. We want to be called Indo, because Indo term means Indonesian who has white people blood. We adore white people so we want to be called Indo. On the contrary, we always consider "Malay" is lower class than white people. That's why in our country, most women buy "whitening stuff" to make their skin look white, not brown. We want to look like white people.

You should not twist the facts in your statements

Their ancestors come to Indon to get a better live by working very very hard. Those Chinese dont get free money from Indon government. They earn their money by doing their works.
Sure we work very very hard; so hard that some of us forget that we were living in Indonesia and not China.
Our ancestors have a choice to relocate; why they choose to stay?

QUOTE
I don't think Chinese should be grateful to live in Indon.
So who are you going to be grateful to?

There is nothing wrong by working hard everyday. All people in modern countries work hard everyday. That's why their countries become modern countries. Only in Indonesia, hard-working people (Chinese) have been attacked by Indonesians because of envy/jealousy. As a result, now Indonesia is still poor and corrupt country.

Most Chinese want to relocate to other countries. But, just few of them who have enough money to start a new life in other countries. So, they stuck in Indonesia. I feel sorry for them.

Hmmmm.......... For sure, Chinese will not feel grateful to Indonesia..

There is a huge difference between work and overwork. Somehow I think too many of us Chinese are just overwork and do not know how to slow down to enjoy life as a normal person should do.

I was very impress with Beijing Olympic opening ceremony but somehow I was left with “the song, the dance and even the smiles are just a little too mechanical“ aftertaste.

As a Chinese, I often ask myself: Am I missing something in life here?

What do you think?

A citizen of a country should be loyal to the country. That is correct.

BUT !!

In Indonesia, it is a special case.

In Indonesia, the government, the military, the Officials and the majority people racistly treat Chinese who are Indonesian citizens.

Those people treat Chinese in the way NAZI persecute Jews.

So, Chinese has every right not to be loyal to Indonesia.

Just like Jews who are German citizens..... those Jews have every right not to be loyal to Germany government/country who slaughter them like animals.

To further any more discussion on this topic, I like to make clear:
1. The majority of Indonesian does not hate Chinese.
2. There are no conflicts to love or loyal 2 or more countries, if we decide to be a blessing or be a peacemaker.

This olympic was a special case, it was an annoucement to the world that china is back on the stage, and show the world what china truely was and will be again. In the entire modern time, china has been poor, weak, devided, full of war and miseary. Now it's all over, in the coming decades, the world will feel the shock of a rising giant as never before.

This, was the message, it has nothing to do with overwork, enjoy life etc. And there won't be another opening ceremony like this again.

We mainland chinese are very aware of the issue, too bad our pussy president Jiang ze min didn't do a damn thing during the last anti-chinese riot, if i was chinese president i would have dropped a couple of nukes on the stupid city of jarkata. Our navy back in 1998 was not capable of blue sea operations. But with current president and chinese navy, things will be different, now with taiwan issue practically solved, if they start killing chinese again, china and taiwan navy will pay a joined visit to indonesia, take over they biggest islands and give them to local chinese. I want to see what navy/army indonesia has to stop us, except stpuid knife waving mobs who will serve as shooting targets, fu-king weaklings.

Amazing...
Not only is this is a hate-thread in the first place but is now filled chauvinistic Chinese...

May I ask how are the Tibetans and Uygurs in China?
Somehow...I don't think you will even now what happen there...not with The Great Firewall.

If you come to us, well, we'll simply have to ally ourselves with USA & India, after all, we share their culture a LOT.

Laughable with the joint Navy, Taiwan's string is still held by US. Somehow I don't think that Chinese power projection will have US blessing.

Of ALL our fault, us Indonesians, at the very LEAST we try to make sure those horrible days will never happen again. Have you even stop to notice the difference between now and 10 years ago?

Whereas YOU mainlanders are still indulged in the orgy of Tibet & Uygur-killings & re-education programs. Oh, wait, you don't know about it right. The Fire Wall, right...

Indonesians of chinese descent shall be treated like other Indonesians, now that we are a democracy. Something that you are NOT! Oh, in case you don't notice, we were not a democracy 10 years ago. That's why all the discrimination & riots. You are not a democracy, that's why all the Tibet-Uygur killings still happen & you want to preach to us?

Look at the mirror mister! Indonesia, for all her faults, is never a chauvinistic nation bent on Nazi-like racial superiority (and no longer racial-discriminating like we were 10 years ago) like you with the take over they biggest islands and give them to local chinese comment. Supposing you are not mainlander, then I'd say that your idol is still busy killing Tibetans & Uygurs.

We will deal with the virus of racism as any democratic society will by having open discussions about it and then take steps to overcome it. In 20 years I am sure that it will no longer be a problem.

Whereas YOU will not participate in any discussion regarding Tibet & Xinjiang, you who can't even vote the mayor of your city. This forum is your place to unload your frustration isn't it? By ingratiating yourself into open discussions you will not be allowed to back home? Why don't you go to Zhongnanhai & try to have a discussion about Indonesia with them?

I'm sure you won't do it.

if i was chinese president well, you're NOT! You will never be because you can't even get elected or elect someone. Whereas I, sometime in the future might stand in an election for the betterment of my country. WHile you will always be having wet dreams & jack off to what you'd do if you're president!
