Simply, they attached the handlebar at the end of leg extension. The preacher curl machine you see in the gym normally costs about $500. Now you can own at home for less than $200.

I tried several of them today at the mall and the other sporting store (not the ones in the pictures). The first one I tried was perfect and I was almost tempted to buy it, and the other one I tried was uncomfortable..I couldn't fully stretch my arms, giving me limited movements and I tried to adjust the bench but had no luck. But, yea, the first one had the preacher curl machine feel to it. I never got used to the old preacher curl bench I used to have, ended up giving it away to someone because I hated it so much, where you have to control the whole thing, straining your back and elbows, plus there was nowhere to put the barbell down, so I had to drop it down on the floor, fetching and picking it up for another set.

I wish they thought of this long time ago. It'll be perfect for the full body workout if they also add lat pulldown.

just get dumbbells rest your elbow on the side of the knee and curl. arnold style concentration curls. or you can do it sitting

i don't like isolation exercises anymore so I'd say just get a pullup bar and do pullups

just having a preacher bench is extremely vain

Doing one arm at a time would be bad I guess. But I hate to workout on smelly equipments at the gym that are soaked with other guys' sweats. *shivers*

Arnold also does reverse, hammer, and normal preacher curls in his preacher bench. That concentration curls is for his bicep peaks that he does at the end of his training, which isn't for building arm mass.

I've seen crappy bench that at least 60-80 bucks, but only with leg extension thing. There's no way it would be that cheap unless it's extremely bad or used.

i think you should get a power rack instead of a bench

arnold also did powerlifter where he got a lot of his mass theres really no point in focusing on peaks and details until you have the mass IMO =p

biceps are one of the least functional muscles on your body

with dumbbells you can do standing curls, concentration curls, as heavy as you can handle.
if you think about it a preacher curl is merely a half rep of a dumbbell curl, think about what parts of the rep go against gravity (the first half), and the rest is worthless

might as well just use your body to get cheat reps at the end

I don't like workouts that stress on my back. I hate concentration curls and power lifts because they can be hard on my back and my knees. I've injured my back before and I don't want to take that chance again. But with preacher bench, the only thing I would be working on is my arms. My form is bad so I end up cheating usually when it comes to freeweights--swinging that is, I don't consider a half rep as cheating. There are some exercises that make you injure more if you do full reps because of stress that puts on elbows.

Go with pullups or chinups. Cut the 'curling' $hiet all together.
