How much better is it then high school? etc etc Make sure you go to a University away from where you live. I made the mistake of staying in the city in which I live, and go to the University here, while living at home. I did it because money was not an abundant resource in my family but I should have just taken loans and stuff. In order to get the total college experience, leave home, get a dorm and do all that. Make sure you get organized. Beware of Freshman 15. It's better than High School because you choose the schedule of your classes, you can schedule it so you get off at 12 noon every time, or schedule it so you can sleep all the way to 1 pm or whatever. You decide your schedule, but it's based on the availability of the classes. Some would say it's easier because there's less homework, and some would say it's harder because there's so much reading, and your grades are based solely on test performance. But it all depends on your classes. Some of your professors might be the worst teachers, or the best of the best teachers you'll ever have. Professor's don't care if you pass or fail - the less they teach the better, unlike High School, where they want many students to graduate. Each class is different though. Make sure you know your major and make sure you know all the classes you need, and what qualifies for prerequisites and stuff. Have fun, get enough sleep, don't skip classes for the hell of it. |

Depending on your course sometimes you'll be lumbered with full days of lectures, sometimes only half and you don't get to sort out your own timetable, it will be done for you so if you don't like what you're given tough $hit. There's also much more work required, far more reading to do, exams and essays. The first year is basically the pissing about year because for most it doesn't count towards their degree grade so you can fu-k about. After that though |

How much better is it then high school? etc etc I'm gonna be a 4th year in college this fall.. and for the most part, I can say it's WAY better than high school lol.. because when I was in high school, I was almost a hermit. I never really got to experience anything.. I just stayed with my circle of friends who didn't really go "out" either. I just focused on my small circle of friends, school, and marching band. I was also on the swim team for 2 years and then quit, but anyway, I was never in the party or dating scene until I went to college. Once I got to college, I got to do alot more.. mainly because my parents weren't there anymore and I didn't really have a curfew. I could do whatever I wanted..and I could study whenever I felt like it (which was kinda bad.. lol oops). I think my worst moments was when I would do bad in school, like get bad grades.. I think that's pretty much it... the social part I really like =) I've met some people here in college that really have changed my life and I love them for that, I wouldn't know what I'd do without them...and now that I know them, I really don't know how I survived high school without even having known them...so yeah to me, COLLEGE > HIGH SCHOOL lol. |
