Malaysians and Filipinos, Are they related ? Options

Sorry if I offended you, I just mentioned what actually happened to me in the past. You are entitled to your opinion ejay, but I must say that I haven't met many Filipino who don't think they are Asian. I fact, I was once told of by a Filipino friend who was very angry at Malaysia for stating that to be Malay, one has to be a Muslim. Needless to say I expalin that this was just reality for the Malay in Malaysia and Singapore, even if the govt didn't put this clause in the constitution, it would still be the way we perceived ourselves. He was adamant that he too was ethnically Malay despite him being Catholic. I concur with him full heartedly, indeed genetic and racial make-up has no sway over Man-made constitutions. So, maybe we can agree to disagree here shall we!

And hello again dalapawo! Well, here is a better place to talk abt what we discussed in the Thai forum. I didn't want to seem to imposing over there as it seemed that we were hogging that particular thread. Don't want to ruffle anyone's feather. Sometimes I feel there are so many emotional ppl out there when it cames to the Us against Them syndrome. You know, Malaysians vs Singaporeans, Thai vs Burmese, Khmer vs Viet. I like to look at the positive side of things and it gives me great hope to see people talking across national and ethnic divide. I'm actually studying in the UK. It was quite a significant event to see the EU enlarge to be the 25 member grouping that it is now. I have no doubt that ASEAN ties will be even stronger in the future. MArket forces dictates this.

Tell me a bit more abt the various ppl in the philippines. I know that Tagalog is the national language because it is the dominant one in central Luzon. But there are also others such as Ilacanos as well isn't there?

Im sorry if I offended you in anyway. I just think that you just can't bunch up filipinos and malays because we have some similarities. Dalawapo is constantly attacking the uniqueness of the filipinos and I can't stand that.

To Dalawapo, so are you telling me non-asians can't post here. I guess they also need to kick out the blacks and the whites who post here as well. If somebody disagrees with anything you say that makes that person disagreeing you the agressor.
