Yes, Same region, Southeast Asia, almost the same language Malayo-Polynesian languages and history.

I think the spread of islam was along malaysia to the philipines. Not sure, just assuming.
But definitely there was some sort of trade. Not just of products but of ideas. I think, not sure, could be mistakened, that there's a malaysian version of Mananangal. A female succubus who's upper half separates and flies around to eat people or something. Y'know, lower mythology. not sure, could be mistaken, I might be getting it confused with indonesia in this case. |

well, i believe they're all austronesoids, there might be a little difference, but not much.
don't know about the rest, but Philippines was once a spanish colony, some filipinos might as well have spaniard blood, thought they're not the majority. in southeast Asia, there are also quite an amount of ethnic Chinese in the regions. They might have inter-bred with austronesoid natives there as well. |
