April 21, 1521 - Battle of Mactan marked the first organized resistance of the Filipinos

1896 - Bonifacio formed the Katipunan formed the nucleus of the Revolutionary Philippine Army

March 22, 1897 - Philippine Revolutionary Government and its Army were born

1901 - Phil. Army was disbanded after our lost to the Americans during the war

15 November 1935 - Pres. Quezon’s National Defense Act was enacted paved the way to the birth of the new Philippine Army (PA)

1941 - WWII, PA was incorporated in the USAFFE

1946 - After the war, four military areas were activated to take the place of military districts. The Armed Forces was reorganized which gave birth to the four major services (PA, PN, PC & PAF).

Today, the PA faces the new challenge. Battling the enemies (Moro rebels, NPA, terrorist) & at the same time providing services in nation building such as rehabilitation, rescue & other social support.

The PA used many types of uniform in different era. During the 1970s-80s, PA used to wear plain olive drab as standard uniform & the 7 colors camouflage during combat operation. Since the late 1980’s, they used to wear camouflage as its standard uniform which they adopted the camouflage pattern of the British. The only difference is the color. The British uses color green, red brown, yellowish tan & black. While the PA uses blue green, brown, tan & black

Their mission - To conduct prompt and sustained ground operation to accomplish the AFP mission;
