Delhi-6's Masakali Dove is worth Rs. 13,000 for a day
![]() Sonam posing with a dove (called Masakali in the film) in Rakeysh Mehra’s Delhi – 6 has been creating a lot of buzz. It is heard that Rakeysh Om Prakash Mehra auditioned nearly a hundred pigeons for this particular shot in the movie. But then he ultimately settled for a dove. Sources inform that “Rakeysh Mehra needed to shoot a song with Sonam with a bird sitting on her head. He had tried pigeons but they used to fly away it was actually music director A.R. Rehman who gave him the idea to use a dove instead of a pigeon because he considered it a symbol of love. Rakeysh Mehra promptly asked for 12 doves on the sets. But ultimately chose this particular dove which came from Assam.” says sources. “But the director had to shell out rupess 13,000/- per day for the bird in hand. Rakeysh Mehra wanted the scene as he had already scripted it and did not want to compromise on anything for the song” adds our source. Well Rakeysh Mehra’s efforts definitely seem to be worth it. The song has already become the buzz of the town. The song is also being compared to the scene in Rajshri’s Maine Pyar Kiya where heroine Bhagyashree sings with a dove on her hand. Dev.D (2009)
![]() A modern-day interpretation of Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay's classic 1917 Bengali novel Devdas. The film is directed by Anurag Kashyap, who previously directed Black Friday (nominated for Best Film at the 2004 Locarno International Film Festival) and No Smoking (2007 film based on a Stephen King novel) and wrote the screenplays for Satya (won the 1998 Filmfare Critics Award for Best Film) and Water (nominated for Best Foreign Language film at the 2005 Oscars). The film stars Abhay Deol (who conceived the idea for the film) as Dev/Devdas, with newcomers Mahi Gill as Paro and Kalki Koechlin (an Indian actress of French descent) as Chanda/Chandramukhi. Director of the decade: Rakesh Roshan How did he end up winning director of the decade? I wouldn't even nominate him for that award, let alone him winning it. Outstanding achievement in international cinema: Aishwarya Rai Bachchan Shouldn't the Slumdog Millionaire cast deserve that award more? Many of them are from the Bollywood movie industry, including Madhur Mittal (Adult Salim), Tanay Chheda (Middle Jamal), Anil Kapoor, Irrfan Khan, Saurabh Shukla, Mahesh Manjrekar, etc. |
