Here's two new ones
A Singing Fairy starring Alec Su and Eva Huang. They visit Miao villages in Guangxi and play the lusheng/qeej. ![]() Trailer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EF-Gwt5J5g0 The Sacred Pole portraying Western Miao, the closest in China to the Hmong of SE Asia, meaning we can understand most of their dialect. But the language in the movie was mostly Mandarin because it was on CCTV targeting the Chinese pop. The main actress. She is very pretty. ![]() Watch the movie http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_1cOZ3VyvfQ |

This is along the same line, not really a movie but a concert.
Miao soprano singer Song Zuying did a concert at the Bird's Nest featuring Spanish tenor Placido Domingo, Lang Lang and Jay Chou. She is so good. I've noticed that a lot of Hmong-Chinese singers have a very opera-ish singing style -- like Song Zuying, Ayouduo, and Mim Haam. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Best Miao/Hmong costume ever. Love the crazy silver jewelry. ![]() Her duet with Jay Chou http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RmbwdKGg5Rc...feature=related Her duet with Andrea Bocelli and Lang Lang on the piano http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZB7fZHevoYg...feature=related Her singing in Italian and English http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WXQSFX-XF8g...esh+div-1r-9-HM This post has been edited by bioshock: Jan 6 2011, 11:51 AM |
