MISS EARTH RECOGNIZED AS ONE OF TOP 3 INTERNATIONAL PAGEANTS IN THE WORLD



Delegates to the Miss Earth 2004 were presented today to the foreign and local television and press at the Poolside of the Intercontinental Manila. Seventy (70) delegates from all over the world have confirmed their participation in Miss Earth 2004 thus confirming the standing of Miss Earth as one of the top three international pageants in the world. Unfortunately, some of the participating delegates missed today’s Press Presentation because of their late arrival in Manila. They will however have their own exposure to television and the press as they join the other pre-pageant activities.

All eyes were fixed and camera lenses were focused on the statuesque beauty queens as they regally walked up the stage to introduce themselves individually to the crowd. Their friendly smiles complemented their shapely figures as they posed for the members of media. As in the past, their different skin tones, hair color, language and accent reminded everybody about their diversity.

Ramon Monzon, the President & CEO of Carousel Productions, the pageant’s organizer and producer, informed the press of the following countries sending delegates to the Miss Earth Pageant for the first time this year: Botswana, Bulgaria, Chad, Egypt, Lithuania, Macedonia, Malta, Martinique, Paraguay, Portugal and Trinidad & Tobago. He also told the press that while a few countries have expressed strong and definite interest in hosting the Miss Earth pageant, he has informed them that Carousel Productions will only consider bringing out the competition to another country in Year 2006.



Lorraine Schuck, Carousel’s Executive Vice President, also introduced the reigning Miss Earth, DANIA PRINCE of Honduras, who has kept busy the whole year attending to her obligations as the Ambassador of Mother Earth in promoting the care and protection of the environment. Our own Miss Philippines, Tamera Marie Szijarto, who will represent our country in the competition, has been tasked to make the stay of the delegates in the Philippines a happy and memorable one.



During their 3-week stay in the Philippines, the Miss Earth delegates will promote their environmental advocacy to Metro Manila cities and universities and compete in the traditional pre-pageant events like Long Gown, Swimsuit, Talent and National Costume Competitions. They will also embark on an 11-day tour of Luzon as they join the OPNL’s “GO NORTH” Jungle and Ocean Escapade. They will visit Clark Economic Zone, Baguio City, Fort Ilocandia in Laoag, the beautiful beaches of Pagudpud, Vigan in Ilocos Sur, the resorts in La Union and the internationally renowned Subic Bay Freeport. Aside from promoting these tourist destinations, the delegates will get a chance to get actively involved in tree planting and reforestation, clean-up drives and marine life observation and preservation.

The Miss Earth Coronation Night will be held on Sunday, October 24, 2004, at 7:00 P.M. at the University of the Philippines Theater in Diliman, Quezon City. It will be telecast on a delayed basis at 9:30 P.M. on ABS-CBN Channel 2. It will also be televised on November 21, 2004 at 9 P.M. in the thirty-five (35) countries covered by the footprint of STAR World, the entertainment channel of STAR Group Ltd. (the biggest cable television network in Asia and the Middle East). Television viewers in Australia, the Middle East, Europe, Canada and the United States will also be able to watch Miss Earth at a later date on The Filipino Channel, ABS-CBN’s cable television network.

Miss Earth 2004 is presented by Sunsilk, Close-up, Creamsilk Conditioners and Pond’s Oil Control Facial Wash. Major Sponsor is AVON Color. Official Residence is Intercontinental Manila; Official Make-up Artist & Hairstylist is Gandang Ricky Reyes Chain of Salons; Official Photographer is New City Studio; and Official Insurance Provider is COCOLIFE.

everything in my life, i chose. i chose to decline the hundreds of events, functions, shows, and what have you. Since you spend days and nights researching me ask the people who tried to invite me. No matter how many times they invited me or how much they were willing to pay so that I would grace the occassion-- I declined again and again. i chose to have a quiet life with my gorgeous and loving husband who spoils me. mahirap na kasi medyo madami lagi naghahabol and nagta-try manligaw sa'kin so i chose to stay away. no brain...why don't you look at the mirror. or better yet bilangan tayo ng academic excellence, behavior excellence, citizenship excellence, leadership excellence, and scholar awards (hindi lang scholar ha, scholar of the year ng buong school which means best of the scholars) na medals and trophies from two countries. so many awards I lost count. I don't even regard being a beauty goddess an achievement because it was so easy. all i did was smile and I won. Not bad for a first timer. i understand how you can be so wickedly envious. parang nasakin na kasi lahat. siguro kasi hindi ako basura like you.
