If Japan had conquered and occupied/ruled it? Most Taiwanese are actually quite happy we ruled them for nearly 50 years. We did alotta great stuff for them, if China was a Japanese colony could they have advanced and modernized and not remain such a poor country? The thing is the Japanese had the right idea in mind.
