but how come many thai students want to go to west or Japan for schooling. 19 is little bit fishy around here. Talktohand.gif

BD, there are 2 groups of students who go aboard; the first group are students who can't pass competitive entrance exam to premium universities in Thailand, so they decided to acquire degree in universities aboard which is easier to enter.

The other group is students with rich parents and they want their kids to know foreign language and have experience as a citizen of the world, so they send their kids aboard.

Unlike you, you are a refugee. You have no choice but to stay as a second class citizen in America. embarassedlaugh.gif

Thank you Nhoona.

My mom fell down and her hip joint was broken so she was shifted to Hat Yai from Trang for operation to replace her joint.

Newsweek magazine 27 December 2010 - 3 January 2011.

Top 50 Universities in Asia.

Prince of Songkla University was ranked 19th.

Followed by Chulalongkorn University, Kasetsart University with Mahidol University not far behind.

THE BEST OF THAILAND’S COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES

Thailand stands as one of the strongest economies in Southeast Asia. The capital city, Bangkok, serves not only as the administrative head of the country, but also the nation’s cultural, commercial, and educational center. There are more than 30 colleges, universities, community colleges, and technical institutions from which to choose in Bangkok alone, and more than 100 in the country altogether.

These range from state-sponsored schools, like the prestigious Chulalongkorn University and Thammasat University, to private universities such as the International Assumption University, which conducts all its classes in English. Profoundly Thai universities have something for everyone, they have excellent courses of study from science and engineering to travel and tourism. The university program in Thailand are accredited and globally recognized. The country is blessed with a wealth of unique cultural beauty allowing all who have come to experience it to appreciate the treasure of art, music and literature which have shaped the refined ways of Thai people’s life, and harmonized their hearts in a time of happiness and haziness.

The country is known for its famous slogan “land of smiles”, which represents the friendly hospitality of the locals. Thus making it easy for students from different parts of the world to study there. Emphasis has been put on internationalization and regionalization of higher education by the Ministry of University Affairs (MUA). Incredibly Thailand’s higher education has a rich diversity to offer. It has more than 3,000 programs of study in various areas of specialization, from undergraduate up to the doctoral degrees. It also meets the demands of local and international students who wish to enroll in programs using English as medium for instruction, by providing over 350 such programs.

Education in Thailand is taken very seriously, a total of three institutions from Thailand made it to the Top 50 Universities in Asia. Prince of Songkla University was ranked first in Thailand and 19th globally, followed by Chulalongkorn University, Kasetsart University with Mahidol University not far behind. Currently laboratory equipment of undergraduate and graduate studies nationwide have been upgraded to guarantee faculty and students alike will have the hands-on experience to become highly capable in the science and technology field – so much needed in the national and regional development of the fast-changing hi-tech world.

There has been a rise in exchange and study programs in Thailand thus the MUA and Thai higher education institutions have adjusted themselves to accommodate the needs for electronic and other physical facilities for foreign students and guests alike, through the duration of their academic undertakings in the country. These exchange programs have attracted increasing numbers of students, faculty, researchers and experts from neighboring countries and those across the region to study and undertake various joint projects, acquiring and sharing intellectual and cultural richness for mutual academic excellence, benefit and understanding.

The cost of living and the cost of study in Thailand are very affordable based on an international scale. During school breaks student can enjoy historical temples, shrines, museums, dance performances and festivals in the friendliest country in Asia.

Thai degree is worthless in in North America, Western Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Japan. True thing. That's why I choose not to study in Thailand. Education is too low. However, Lao degree is everywhere worthless. embarassedlaugh.gif

Easier to enter? haha If you choose to go to another developing country I agree, but Thai ''high school degree'' is not fully recognized in developed countries so they can't enter universities there. Thailand has poor education. Most Thai people read comics instead of novels. Sad thing. I hope it changes.

you might have misunderstood me. the source of reason behind my need to confront andromadra is because of how he's/she's putting others down. i don't believe thai are racists. the ones i crossed paths with (in real life) are awesome, very respectable and kind. my comment is only directed to androm and no other thai. i just want to make this clear.

quit boasting about your universities (this goes out to all the asian universities, not just thai)...they all suck compared to the ones in the states....otherwise there wouldn't be a need for international students in the states....most say they earn more money having a western education versus their home country's...

funny most of the foreign students say they would earn more money with a western education compared to a subpar degree from their home country....

and as for being a refugee, what's so wrong with being one? some are a lot more successful than the average white american....

quite condescending remark. i forgive you for your lack of education. Laos and Cambodia were two former war states. Cambodia has only re-ermerged from war (30 years ago)...

Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore had time to develop. Even Vietnam, a rapidly developing economy is not on that list because of the consequence of war....go figure.
