purely a defensive mechanism to hold the Manchurian land intergrity. All those cultural talk and artifacts are just superficial stuffs.
China always try to justify its current occupation of some lands base on historical links such as tibet and xinjiang, likewise for place like manchuria where part of it has significant ethnic koreans. China doesn't have intention to claim new land from North Korea. If it does, it would already done so under Mao's era. It wouldn't wait till in recent memory to start a new claim. If fact all those disputed lands China currently are claiming have already started in Mao's era such as Aksai chin, Aruncha Prudash, taiwan, South Sea island, Daoyutai island. North Korea land was not part of the equation under Mao and never will be. China is preparing for possible trouble if the current population of ethnic korean in China decide one day to call for the so called Greater Korean Nation base on urging from some of current viewpoints of conservative koreans in SK(after NK and SK united scenario). Therefore NorthEast project is purely a defensive mecahnism to stem the encroaching tide.. Protecting the current Manchurian Border Land(Line of Control) Nothing more, nothing less. Therefore people in SK should see and understand from China's POV, otherwise how would China answer to the ethnic koreans in China what the reason ethnic koreans should be part of China if without historical linkage. Pls refrain from making excessive comments. This post has been edited by lilzz: Sep 17 2009, 12:03 PM |

What exactly is this retarded project that the Koreans keep obsessing over? They think China is taking over Korea historical identity, a prelude or justification to occupy part of north korea in the future. I counter that by saying it's only defensive mechanism, China wouldn't start some new claim territorialwise that they haven't done so in Mao's era. |

Meh who cares? As long as the territory is China's, it shouldn't matter. Plus China has a nice buffer zone with SK so it's all good.
