I think I remember hearing about something called Lao Fist of Destruction or something like that. Supposedly, it's the most refined form of the martial art originally developed by Tibetan monks that migrated to northern Laos.
Maybe I'm thinking of something else...

"Lao Fist of Destruction"

Come one now.

Lao Zte is not a Lao Philosopher
Kung Lao is not a Lao game charater
and Dr. Lao is not a Lao mad scientist

The only lao martial arts i can think of is Drunk Kickboxing.

depending on tonality Lao can be used as he/she, to invite, alcohol, or lao as the people. I think lao came from the chinese word meaning old or something. I dont know.

If the people of Laos historically have no well-known form of a Lao martial art, we should invent one. (IMG:http://www.asiafinest.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/eek.gif)

I can't find any solely "martial" art (i.e. a martial art not derived from tribal dances or such) in Laos. I believe that most martial artists in Laos probably copied or adopted those fighting styles of their neighbors.

I think martial art or karate came from training warrior to fight against invaders. Laos did have wars against its neighbor but don't know if they were trained with some kind of martial art though.

I'm careful about the usage of the word/phrase "martial art". For example, even aborigines of North America had rituals in which they'd hit each other with sticks to re-enact battle scenes. For example, Hindu Kalarippayattu though considered to be somewhat of an "art" really as its origins in tribal dances of the Ayurveda and othera Kerala danceforms.

Perhaps Laos had some type of warrior-ritual dances, which could have combined with exterior influences to become a fighting system.
