You DO know that Republic of China claims over all of Mainland China, and Outer Mongolia right? This claim includes Tibet. If KMT was still in control, It would neither sympathize Tibetan freedom nor support it. The Communist is in control today, They aren't letting Tibet go.
I don't understand why you support a Government who claims TIBET as part of Republic of China...... There is no difference.... both are Chinese.... Tibet under rule.... (IMG:http://www.asiafinest.com/forum/style_emoticons/default/confused.gif) |

The current government of Taiwan is the DPP.
They have no claims whatsoever over any part of the People's Republic of China. |

QUOTE (Made in China @ Nov 13 2004, 10:37 PM) If KMT was still in control, It would neither sympathize Tibetan freedom nor support it. too bad KMT isnt even the ruling party on taiwan anymore. its DDP now. and both president chen shui-bian and lee teng-hui have openly stated that mongolians and tibetans are not chinese and have the right to be soveriegn. what the kmt party drew out as its borders over 55 years ago when it still had any claim to the mainland is of no relevance in this day and age. and, of course the tibetans want to gain the support of the taiwanese people. you are absurd. The KMT might not be in power anymore. But the CCP is still in power today, ironically the CCP has a lot in common with the KMT's claims(ie PRC claims over all area formerly claimed by KMT/ROC). |

Actually i'm not sure if the KMT recognises Tibet as a part of China
Check out this cold war propaganda film on the KMT and at the beginning where Chiang is at that inaugaration ceremony and that large model of China doesn't appear to have Tibet. http://www.gio.gov.tw/taiwan-website/av/so...g/sight01_2.htm |

the kmt claims are merely in keeping with old ideals. i wonder when they'll finally get rid of those.

Taiwan's Government's name is Republic of China.
And of course, Republic of 'China' consist Tibet, Xiajiang, Loy Mongol, and Manchuria. Therefore Taiwan ever did control the Mainland, I doubt they would let Tibet become independent. |

Made in China, governments don't have names.
Do Americans say, "Our government is called the United States of America"? Do Koreans say, "Our government is called the Republic of Korea"? This post has been edited by Archangel-X: Nov 16 2004, 03:14 AM |

Yeah, they're rightm, they want, the Socialist Republic of Taiwan.
TI is a poison, we should first prevent it from being taken first, before we cure it by attacking the poison. |

It's not even worth discussing. I am, however, willing to see comprimise and cooperation between the PRC and ROC. As long as it's a government of China, I won't mind too much.
