Do you know that some Thai hotels in Bangkok, the 4-star/5-star ones carry MTV Indonesia? As in in place of MTV Thai. I found this really strange. On my last trip there I saw a music video of a song sang by all the Indonesian Idol contestants, I think this guy was also there. There were dancing and singing to some street music, before the setting changed to an indoor party theme.

It’s a free pay TV, unlike any other MTV around the world. So some other countries such as Thailand and Vietnam can watch it. I recall someone from Vietnam or Myanmar asked me the same question too.

The announcement was last night. He said ‘I was so happy and surprised. I’m a newcomer, haven’t deserved this yet. It’s like a miracle’.
This could be his next step to be the nominee for MTV Asia Awards 2005 Most Favorite Artist. Congrats Delon!

That's not Joy, but Delon is the one who did concert in Perth, Australia in October.

I heard that Joy Tobing cancelled her show in S'pore this year due to the lack of tickets being sold.

Up and coming icon of Indonesian entertainment Delon is the star of the Spectacular Saturday Night show in Vancouver on Nov. 19 presented by the Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia in Vancouver and DMT Entertainment. The evening promises to be a night of heady entertainment with a showcase of traditional and modern dance, fashion shows and a live band in which the Indonesian star will perform live.

With tickets priced at $25 (including snacks and drinks) and $65 (including full course dinner) the event will be held at the Croatian Cultural Centre, Vancouver. Proceeds of the event will be given to an Indonesian orphanage and the Bethesda Ministry of Love in Vancouver.
The Abhimata Witrasamaya orphanage provides shelter and loving care to babies and children in Indonesia. They provide shelter and loving care to help them prepare for a happy future like that enjoyed by other children without discriminating race and religious background. In most cases these babies are left in the hospital by their mother while in some cases the babies are left in front of the orphanage‘s gate.

The Bethesda Ministry of Love works in both Indonesia and Vancouver. Their ministry in Vancouver is to care for the forgotten people living in poor communities, people on the street, and those who suffer from drugs addiction and AIDS. They also care for lonely and depressed elderly people in senior homes in Vancouver by visiting and spending time with them, also presenting fellowship, meetings and concerts.

From Kelly Clarkson to Delon
In spite of being the runner-up at the American Idol affiliation ‘Indonesian Idol‘ 2004, Delon went on to record an album that sold more than 300,000 copies in less than three months. Such was his talent???-waiting to be uncovered.
From a singer in a school boy‘s choir, selling spring-bed and plastic ware from home to home, Delon, formerly Stanislaus Dalon Thamrin, is now almost an icon for Indonesian youth culture.
