He has done us proud.
Vietnam became the second country in Asia to get Fields Medal a.k.a.
^ Idiot.
Mathematics is where to prove your intelligence. Fields medals are only handed out to extraordinary individuals every 4 years. Much harder to get than Nobel prizes. Talking about Nobel prizes, Le duc Tho was awarded a Nobel peace prize but he declined it. Shing-Tung Yau is not China's citizen. . P/S: I'm smelling jealousy here. dulldull and this HCM impersonator could be of the same gang. This post has been edited by altractiveguy: Aug 21 2010, 01:32 PM |

Idiot Math is the backbone of science, the king. Sure, keep doing good at math while fail at everything else... Yes, math is backbone of all science, yet you people can't utilized the fundamentals in helping you in physics, chemistry, biology and so on and so forth... Yes, some might argue education is also backbone of success, but does that always hold true? Can the smart Vietnamese who's good at math exceed in other field? SAD SAD Not once had our little Viet morons won IMO (high school level) competition and awarded 1st place..LOL $hit This post has been edited by HoCockMinh: Aug 21 2010, 05:14 PM |

Retard, let me teach you how to read. First, I never compare Nobel Prizes with Field Medals Second, when conversing in this specific context I'm referring to "SCIENCE" related Nobel Prizes, dummy!!!!! Shin-Tung Yau is ethnic Chinese, do you think he's not Chinese just because his citizenship is of USA? LOL!!!!! If that's your stupid logic, then many Viet American or Viet oversea who doesn't have Vietnam's citizenship, then please from now on stop bragging about them. LOL Jealously of Viet dogs? LOL You are seriously a retard. Most Overseas Vietnamese still have their Vietnamese citizenship. The communist Viet government has a law saying Viets everywhere around the world are still considered Vietnamese citizens unless they file an application to withdraw. Only recently, (for security reasons) the Viet government made a new law requiring Overseas Viets to file an application to keep their current Vietnamese citizenship or else they are not considered citizens of Vietnam anymore . Shin-Tung Yau left China for British-controlled Hong Kong when he was a few months old. HK was only returned to China in 1997 Countries that has Fields medal winning citizens: United States 13 France 11 Russia/Russie 9 United Kingdom 6 Japan 3 Belgium 2 Finland 1 Israel 1 Italy 1 Norway 1 Vietnam 1 New Zealand 1 Sweden 1 Germany 1 Australia 1 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fields_Medal Sure, keep doing good at math while fail at everything else... Yes, some might argue education is also backbone of success, but does that always hold true? Can the smart Vietnamese who's good at math exceed in other field? SAD SAD Not once had our little Viet morons won IMO (high school level) competition and awarded 1st place..LOL $hit Education and success? Bad analogy, Idiot. Math is needed everywhere. Without Math, this modern civilization is not possible. Idiot, IMO is a far away from Fields level, and you are proud of your good HS math-solving students? LOL Yes, math is backbone of all science, yet you people can't utilized the fundamentals in helping you in physics, chemistry, biology and so on and so forth... Don't expect too much from an impoverished country right now But be prepared, Viets will soon win Nobel prizes in other fields as VN's economy is improving because more money will be poured into research and labs, comparable working environments will help us compete fairly with others. Education and success? Bad analogy, Idiot. Math is needed everywhere. Without Math, this modern civilization is not possible. Yes, go tell people that think Education correlates with Success is stupid! Education encompassed math skill as well, maybe you are too stupid to understand what "EDUCATION" means! Math nevertheless provides the fundamental that one seeks, however, how one choose to utilized the skill is another case. Being good at math does not translate to you people succeeding in Physics, Biology and/or Chemistry. If that was the case, instead of asking me to teach you how to debate you will already list bunch of Vietnamese scholars who exceed in Physics, Chemistry and Biology etc. Idiot, IMO is a far away from Fields level, and you are proud of your good HS math-solving students? LOL Idiot, that's my point exactly! As smart as you people are, you can't even win a high school level competition. Idiot, Chinese also won field medals, as well as IMO various times, how about Vietnam? Making correlation and analogy must be too hard for you, huh? In what way would you think I'm saying IMO is equal to Field medals? In what way would you think I'm comparing Chinese achievement in IMO with your Field medalist? I'm comparing Chinese achievement in IMO with Vietnamese achievement in IMO Seriously, how better of economy do you need to succeed in High School Level Math competition? Don't expect too much from an impoverished country right now I'm not expecting anything from you, I'm making fun of you. But be prepared, Viets will soon win Nobel prizes in other fields as VN's economy is improving because more money will be poured into research and labs, comparable working environments will help us compete fairly with others. Very funny!!!! Study your poor economy before forecasting your wonderful dreams on AF This post has been edited by HoCockMinh: Aug 21 2010, 05:57 PM |

People with an education is more likely to become successful (not a 100% guarantee) but it has nothing do with Math being needed in almost anything, science. That's why it's a bad analogy. Don't you know VN is behind a lot of countries in almost everything? It takes time, kid. If a viet wins something, it's already a micracle. Right now VN don't even have world stardard labs. It's hard to compete with the rich kids when you are mainly focusing on making money to feed your basic needs right now. That's why I said as VN's economy improves year by year you will see more success stories from VN. Idiot, that's my point exactly! As smart as you people are, you can't even win a high school level competition. Idiot, Chinese also won field medals, as well as IMO various times, how about Vietnam? I'm not expecting anything from you, I'm making fun of you. Retard. U.S HS math team is not the best in the HS level math competition yet they have won 13 fields medals. You guys are still stuck at HS math level (math solving robots has its limits LOL, VN's HS students win IMO medals every year although not the best HS math solving team In 2010 IMO, Viets got: 1 gold, 4 silvers, 1 bronze. Very funny!!!! Study your poor economy before forecasting your wonderful dreams on AF Keep wishing ill of VN This post has been edited by altractiveguy: Aug 21 2010, 06:44 PM |

That's why it's a bad analogy. You're an idiot! Math is backbone of science vs Education is backbone of success is a good analogy 1. Because math is not 100% utilized in science as well, the analogy i'm making is that, they are both (not 100% guarantee) LIke you said so yourself (almost) anything, but not 100%. So it is an analogy depicting the concept it is intended to portrayed Thank you for reinforcing my point. Vietnam is always behind a lot of countries since its existence in history, don't you know? Yes, it takes a "LOTS" of time. Yes, blame it on funding, nutrition, lack of opportunity in a high school level competition if you insist. Retard. U.S HS math team is not the best in the HS level math competition yet they has won 13 fields medals. You guys are still stuck at HS math level (math solving robots has its limits LOL, VN's HS students win IMO medals every year although not the best HS math solving team In 2010 IMO, Viets got: 1 gold, 4 silvers, 1 bronze. Keep wishing ill of VN Yes, they are US, they are not Vietnam. Vietnam sux at both the upper & lower level, that's what I'm trying to point out. US is known for their quality in higher education, while not the primary. In the long run, what do you think is going to happen? US is already losing its edge in terms of graduated engineers compare to Asian country like (Japan, Korea, China) etc. US always attract lots of foreign talents in their higher educations, don't you know? So it is an analogy depicting the concept it is intended to portrayed Thank you for reinforcing my point. Idiot. You can be succesful without a high education. A farmer can get rich by growing some high demand produce. He then can buy a big house, a car, marry a beatiful wife... Advanced civilization can't be built without the help of math. Vietnam is always behind a lot of countries since its existence in history, don't you know? Yes, it takes a "LOTS" of time. Yes, blame it on funding, nutrition, lack of opportunity in a high school level competition if you insist. Lol, in the past, VN was a lot better than many countries, in the past's standards of course. And, of course, it can not be better than a empire with ~20x population contributing. Grow a brain. Yes, they are US, they are not Vietnam. Vietnam sux at both the upper & lower level, that's what I'm trying to point out. US is known for their quality in secondary education, while not the primary. In the long run, what do you think is going to happen? US is already losing its edge in terms of graduated engineers compare to Asian country like (Japan, Korea, China) etc. US always attract lots of foreign talents in their secondary educations, don't you know? If stating fact is wishing ill, I'm very sorry to hurt your feeling VN does not really suck. They do get medals in the HS math level although, not the best Yes, Japan, Korea, and even China became better, thanks to U.S's great help, not to say guys wouldn't become better without U.S's help. But the U.S's help made you guys became significantly better. Trading with the U.S's made you guys a lot of money, not to mention, many got their education, got tech transfer from the U.S. Sorry, Quality beats quantities. Korea's or Japan's... higher college gruaduating rates don't mean much. This post has been edited by altractiveguy: Aug 21 2010, 07:02 PM |
