The Vietnamese navy is already investing in a significant undersea capability, having ordered six improved Kilo-class diesel-electric submarines from Russia. In fact, Vietnam's desire to keep its options open on uranium enrichment may be driven by a desire to acquire a nuclear-powered submarine capability in the future, which would be better-suited than conventional submarines for the continuous patrol of disputed islands and off-shore installations in the South China Sea. Be that as it may, Vuong Huu Tan, president of the government-affiliated Vietnam Atomic Energy Institute, has made it clear that for the time being, Vietnam has no intention of pursuing enrichment due to its cost and political sensitivity.

The Chinese will continue to build up their military. Many Western nations have forgotten things such as the Opium Wars, Boxer Rebellion, and Taiping Rebellion, however the Chinese have not. Finally, if the China wanted to invade US, they will make the mistakes of the Japanese during World War 2 and collapse. So if Vietnam is smart, they will play things quietly and coolly, Vietnam is set to be the new top dog in South East Sea it’s simply a matter of time no matter of time no matter what curve balls the Chinese throws in the way to delay what is an inevitability.

Vietnam plans for 1000 YearsThang Long-Hanoi. Ly Thanh Tong attacked the invasion enemy China. Immediately after ascending the throne, in 1010, King Ly Thai To decided to relocate the capital from Hoa Lu (Ninh Binh) to Dai La citadel (belonging to present-day Hanoi) – a land with a terrain of “rolling dragon and sitting tiger” (as stated in the Royal Edict on the Transfer of the Capital). According to the Complete Annals of the History of the Great Viet State, “while boats temporarily anchored by the citadel (Dai La), a golden dragon appeared on the royal boat, consequently it was renamed Thang Long citadel”.
Thang Long (Flying Dragon) capital city was built into two separate areas: the Royal Enclosure with royal palaces and the Court Hall, and the civil area where inhabitants lived and were grouped into craft guilds. The capital was surrounded by an earth rampart expanded from the dykes of three rivers: the Red River to the east, the To River to the north and the west, and the Kim Nguu River to the south. It was the biggest rampart work of the feudal dynasties in Vietnam. ![]() ![]() |

"Vietnam is set to be the new top dog in South East Sea" You lost lots of creditability there! Well, not like you had any to begin with. Speaking of Sinocentrism, are we witnessing Viet-centrism here? This post has been edited by Attention: Oct 9 2010, 11:10 AM |

"Vietnam is set to be the new top dog in South East Sea" You lost lots of creditability there! Well, not like you had any to begin with. Speaking of Sinocentrism, are we witnessing Viet-centrism here? Do you work for or benefit from directly or indirectly, the Chinese government? I assume you are not commenting as you are. |
