I don't want crap like "Oh, guess you didn't know, Vietnamese hates Hmong people." As you know, online sites don't do me any good. Nor does Google Translator. SO! Here are the things I've got down forever : (PLEASE, correct me if I'm wrong in any way!!!) •Du Ma - Mother F - er / YO' MOM! •Du Ma May - SOMETHING REALLY BAD •Xin nChao / nChao - Hi / Hello •Cam Un - Thank(s) •Di di! - Go, go! / Go away! •Im di! - SHUT UP! •Anh Guk - EAT POO! • Yaa - Yes • Kum - No • Koh Tey - Maybe So here are the things I'm requesting : •I don't know? - ? •Nevermind! - ? •"Ohh, nothing." - ? •What are you doing - ? •How are you - ? •"WOW! • No problem - ? • My name is _____ - ? • I'm __ years old - ? • I like you a lot - ? • "Ohh WHATEVER! D:" - ? *• any other small sayings that are important + *• any un-hurtful PLAYFUL??? words or insults? xD I just want to talk like crazy in Vietnamese to all of my Viet friends. CAM UNG~! |

WTH. You spell most of them wrong. Your friends must have a pretty bad Viet accent then.
***INFO: I'm a teenager. And my Viet friend is also a teenager. And he's a boy. Here are the things I've got down forever : (PLEASE, correct me if I'm wrong in any way!!!) •Du Ma - Mother F - er / YO' MOM! •Du Ma May - SOMETHING REALLY BAD •Cam •Di di! - Go, go! / Go away! •Im di! - SHUT UP! • Yaa - Yes Correct spelling is "dạ". It's pronounced "Za" in Northern Viet and "Ya" in Southern Viet • • Koh Tey - Maybe The correct spelling is Có Thế So here are the things I'm requesting : •I don't know? - ? Tôi không biết •Nevermind! - ? Không có chi •"Ohh, nothing." - ? Không có ǵ •What are you doing - ? Bạn đang làm ǵ thế? •How are you - ? Bạn khỏe không? •"WOW! • No problem - ? Không có chi • My name is _____ - ? Tôi tên là ___________ • I'm __ years old - ? Tôi _____ tuổi • I like you a lot - ? This depends on the situation. A friendly phrase would be "Tôi mến bạn lắm" • "Ohh WHATEVER! D:" - ? Sao cũng được *• any other small sayings that are important + *• any un-hurtful PLAYFUL??? words or insults? xD Why would I tell you? I just want to talk like crazy in Vietnamese to all of my Viet friends. |

This will help you better with pronunciation. It's really hard to teach someone vietnamese by just typing it

@hitmonxiong: you're from asiantown...
@FieryOFTheEast: @daxas24: well HEY! that's what michael said to me. i'm like, "no is.. khong." and then he's like, "no, it's kum, KUM." i seriously tried not to laugh and go with it. ohh, and that site, i've already watched it. i think i watched all the viet teaching vids already too on youtube... i'm in the process of learning more words and speaking it swiftly. i'm also learning this song : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tbDQGArcIUo |

So here are the things I'm requesting : •I don't know? - ? •Nevermind! - ? •"Ohh, nothing." - ? •What are you doing - ? •How are you - ? •"WOW! • No problem - ? • My name is _____ - ? • I'm __ years old - ? • I like you a lot - ? • "Ohh WHATEVER! D:" - ? One of the most important aspect of Vietnamese is knowing how to address yourself and others. You might come across as rude if you don't get this right. In most cases, this only applies for vietnamese. For foreigners, it doesn't matter that much. You're trying to learn vietnamese, that's the most important thing. What xigon wrote above was a little too formal though. I personally don't use "Tôi" to address myself at all. It depends on who's you're tallking to. Here are some basic examples: Male version: If you're older, you address yourself as "anh" If you're younger, you address yourself as "em" Female versioin: If you're younger, you address yourself as "em" If you're older, you address yourself as "chị" If you're just friends, you can use "tao" "mày" OK, I'll do a female version for the ones above •I don't know? - em không biết •Nevermind! - ? There's really no direct translation but "Không có chi" or "Không có ǵ" would work • I like you a lot - ? Em thích anh (this only applies between female and male) The word "thích" means "like" in sexual relationship. You can't use "thích" when you say "I like you" as friends. Everything else is pretty much similar to xigon. You can replace "tôi" by "em" "anh" "chị" depending on the situation You might find some of these helpful I don't understand - Em không hiểu I'm studying Vietnamese - Em đang học tiếng việt |
