MỘT VÀI VẤN ĐỀ VỀ TRANG PHỤC NỘI Y THÁI GIÁM ( TY THÁI GIÁM TRONG NỘI CUNG ) - THỜI LÊ TRỊNH .

Theo cuốn TRANG PHỤC THỜI LÊ - TRỊNH của Họa sĩ TRỊNH QUANG VŨ - Nxb Bách Khoa 2008 , trong mục Trang phục nội giám ( Ty thái giám trong nội cung ) có viết : " Các chức Tổng giám , Đô thái giám , Xuân đốc ty nội , tước Quận công .
Phẩm phục : Khi vào chầu trong triều đội mũ phốc đầu , áo chùng màu hồng , bổ tử thêu hổ, đai dát đồi mồi bịt bạc và đi hia tất . Khi vào chầu trong phủ Chúa đội mũ ô sa, áo lam có vạt che phủ đằng sau, dây lưng kép dát ngọc. (Tr71).

As far as I know, there were hardly any calvary in the ancient Viet army, those "hook" weapons were used by infantry men to hook the horses of the invading outside forces. One excerpt recorded Viet infantry used those to hook the horses of the Mongol calvary.

Wow. interesting similarities between Vietnamese weapons and Japanese weapons. I doubt any dialog back then so each must have evolved the weapons independently.


Older spear tip. metal covers the wood shaft. Japan had these as their first spears. I believe both countries adopted them from the Chinese. At least in Japan's case this is true.

this type of tip would come loose so over time a new tip evolved.

The tang of the spear is embedded into the wooden shaft making it stronger. After years of war, Japanese spears gradually changed into this type too.

I'm sorry but we used a lot of Súng lục (Hỏa Điểu) in late Le Dynasty, and our army in Lê-Trịnh is FULLY equipped with these súng lục ( Hỏa Điểu) or flintlock.

But Nguyễn Dynasty use all elite army in war with Siam and captured all Cambodia and of course after Minh Mạng, we don't have enough resource to equipped all our army with these equipment, so our most of our army equipped with melee weapon instead, that is why we have failed... though we never lose anywar before... thats a shame.

You know our upgraded version is like Flintlock rilfe, in case you needed please type in google bar : "flintlock rilfe"

Well simply put it is a musket.

There is a reason why they called Nguyễn Lord "Lord of Fire" and Trịnh Lord "lord of Ocean or Water".

Note that we can made these gun since Mạc Dynasty,

But we can only made in mass number when Sãi Lord (Chúa Nguyễn Phúc Nguyên) give his adopted daughter to Araki Sotarou and thus started the trade with Japanese, we traded Iron from Japanese with our so called "Lụa An Nam" and crafted goods. (Japanese Iron is better than Chinese Iron.)

I got these in lichsuvn, quite interesting site with a lot of nice people like me.

And yes our "Hỏa Điểu" similar to western musket than Eastern.

perhap you think that its should look like these arquebus:




*Note: that our firepower is much more powerful and advance than Japanese and almost no match in "Trịnh - Nguyên Phân Tranh" due to "chạy đua vũ trang" though japanese is not bad either.

The different is we changed to flintlock rifle early while most of Asian Country that time still get addicted to Arquebus, i think because its cheaper.

^ true enough. for a long time Japanese rifles used smoldering ropes. To fire, touch the burning part of the rope to a small hole in the guns side. The flame would ignite the chamber and fire the round.

I'm amazed the Vietnamese adopted the newer flint locks so early.
