Only a matter of time until China grows richer and more people have the time and corruption gets ironed out.

Some Korean players integrate Taekwando skills into their soccer playing. That is why generally both South and North Koreans have a natural affinity and appetite for this sport. Anyway the #1 sport among Chinese (even increasingly among Hong Kong people too) is basketball.

Maybe Chinese are more into basketball? IDK soccer is popular in China but it's not the most popular by any means.

this is like the same argument why USA hasn't won the world cup despite they have world-class training facility, good athletic background, and relatively corruption free by world standard. the answer is really lack of dedication to the sport. chinese youth and american youth are somewhat very similar. we tend to stereotype soccer as in unexciting sport. there is two reasons for that. 1) low score, not a lot of action going on. 2) the home soccer players haven't perform well on the world stage, so nobody pay attention to it = too little pool of talent to work with.
InitialDJay, there was an underlying reason why Taiwanese press and people went ballistic over Koreans, over something that Koreans did not even benefit from. It was a PRC athlete who won the gold. And a few days later, Japanese judge ruled against the Taiwanese and disqualified the athelete in karate. Yet there were no furor over Japan, no protests, no hate programs on TV to insult Japanese, no boycotts of Japan. Are you trying to tell me there was no underlying animosity toward Koreans, that fueled the national movement? On Chinese and Taiwanese and Japanese portals, the internet posts were jammed full of posts about Koreans who are trying to steal Chinese culture, yet they're now trying to steal gold medals from Taiwan - bunch of thieves. What did Samsung got to do with this judging controversy? What did those Koreans who were refused service in restaurants go to do with this judging controversy? I can only think of one - they were Koreans. It's not so different when a Chinese gang murdered the brother of a famous Korean actor, just because he was Korean. An year later another exact same case, a Korean student was stabbed to death by a Chinese gang in the belly and hit with the hammer on the head, because the only reason - he was a Korean. And then another incident where a group of middle school Korean kids get threatened with death, by a group of Chinese gangs who beat up the kids - again the only reason, they were Koreans. Not to mention how many real Chinese consumer boycotts that Korean companies have to go through every year in China. alright this is off-topic since the other topic is close for whatever reason. i am going to reply to you since i didn't realize you have respond to me. there is no reason to generalize anti-korean sentiment based on case-by-case situation and minority group. i am not familiar with past recent sport event as i am not that interest in the sports. but the disqualification on that taewondo athlete is unjustified while the disqualification on the karate athlete is justified given how he was obviously punching an illegal blow to his opponent. i can named you a few incidents where other national (some are chinese) being killed by ethnic korean. or protest being done by south korea. what's the difference? well the difference is that the sport federation is perceived to be controlled by south korea. adding that is the history behind south korea betraying taiwan in the past. past animosity and recent event add up to the heated protest by MINORITY of politicians and nationalists. are these the hidden animosity that you're looking for? |

Pointless thread.
I think Chinese women soccer team beaten Koreans before. Why can't Koreans beat China in Ping pong? Some did, but majority of Ping pong masters are all Chinese. |

Why can't Koreans beat China in Ping pong?
Because few Koreans care about or play ping pong. But I hear soccer is very popular spectator sport in China. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qi...15033209AAM1TtP They even have a term called, "Korea Phobia"? http://www.chinahush.com/2010/02/10/three-...hey-beat-korea/ So it's not for lack of trying or lack of interest, nor lack of money since the China's soccer teams have been lavished with government funds. So the mystery here is why China out of 1.5 billion people, can't come up with 11 men on the pitch who can beat a South Korean team at least one time out of two times they play each other. And the SK team isn't that good, certainly not one of the top level teams in the world, like a Spain, Brazil or Argentina. SK is a mediocre team compared to rest of the world. But the dynamics seem to change when S.Korea plays China. S.Korea then becomes an unbeatable Argentina. By the way, China lost to Korea back in January 3-0 in the Asian Cup, and twice more since then, including another 2 losses last week involving a national team and an Olympic team. So the Korea jinx has started all over again for China. I'm pretty sure Chinese fans are pretty mad at their teams right now. This post has been edited by tom2011: Mar 31 2011, 05:47 AM |

Any ideals guys? quite a pointless thread. when the argentinians win over the german, we ask Why Can't the german Beat the argentinians in Soccer? we won't get an answer when the german win over the brazilians, we ask Why Can't the brazilians Beat the germans in Soccer? we won't get an answer when the german win over the argentinians, we ask Why Can't the argentinians Beat the german in Soccer? we won't get an answer Why Can't the german Beat the argentinians in Soccer? Why Can't the argentinians Beat the german in Soccer? becos winners change with time. and there will always be a majority who lose in a tournament to a champion. losing is part and parcel of life for the majority and it will not and should not be something to be mock at, or even if seemingly so. |

it's plausible to put less investments on because there is no chance of winning the whole thing. Small countries like Korea with speed skating and Romania with gymnastics put their efforts mostly on one team sport, meanwhile China has diving and many other team sports they are good at.
China still has strong women's national soccer team. They've been doing well for a decade or so. So does USA women's soccer. This post has been edited by Jarhier: Mar 31 2011, 11:15 AM |

If only China added the Shaolin soccer team in the World Cup. Then China would have beat Korea and Spain. =p

Koreans are good at sports especially anything to do with legs.
It's the agility. Speed=POWER I was good at short distance running but couldn't quite catch up to the long legs of fastest African Americans at school who take bigger strides. I would have to move my legs twice as fast just to catch up. However in single strides or kicks I was faster than most This post has been edited by KaptainAmeriKa: Mar 31 2011, 04:03 PM |

I reckon it's mostly because of corruption and moral deprivation.
I've been living in China long enough to know how corrupted the officials are. Football is just a reflection of the whole Chinese society |
