Is it just me or does it feel like Thailand is becoming more and more of a dictatorship?

This is my first account. I been reading this forum for awhile now and so I decided to join. And how is it just me? "Thailand’s cyber-police draft new Computer Crimes Act" News Asia claims "Widespred corruption in Thailand undermining business, causing companies to invest money elsewhere". I'm living in the United States and I'm a U.S. citizen. I'm just concerned about my homeland.

It's not you. This is for reals.

Thailand’s authorities have been patrolling the internet more and more vigorously, mostly to clamp down on content that is allegedly lèse majesté and to silence political opponents. In recently published research by Freedom House, the US-based think-tank has labeled the kingdom’s internet as ‘not free’, putting it below countries such as Zimbabwe, Turkey, Venezuela, Pakistan, Rwanda and among countries the likes of China, Saudi Arabia, Iran and Cuba. More details at fellow Asian Correspondent blogger Jon Russell.

"The army will provide full cooperation to make sure the election is clean and fair. All army personnel and their family members are encouraged to go to the polls. All political parties are equally welcome to campaign in military units. I have made this a policy for all to comply with," Gen Prayuth said.

WTF? for a General to say this without being dismissed? Whats wrong with the Thai people.... I am tired of this crap. My country doesn't know what democracy is and thus doesn't deserve to have one.
I am living in the United States now and soon to be a US citizen. I once wanted to go back and help develope my country.
