QUOTE (yiming2000 @ Jun 16 2011, 05:59 PM) *
The west is not always better. But right now, it is defining almost all the best things we want in life. Even the best universities for Chinese studies are in the west because the best minds are there. Do you know that Indian art was discovered by the British? People are incapable of appreciating anything in their midst when their bellies are empty. It is the same with China.

Yiming dear, it depends what best things you want isn't it, but I shalln't argue with you, let's agree to disagree shall we?

As we speak, the Taliban might be destroying yet another rare Buddha statue in Afghanistan, this, after the Bamiyan Buddhas were senselessly destroyed a decade ago.. sigh.... but one of the poster here thinks, it is OK, her defence for the Muslims who destroyed the statue is that it shows impernance, such logic though how this has anything to do with the destruction only she would know.

Talk about art perhaps the Brits were the first to loot the arts in Indian thus the 'discovery' it is such an absurdity. The French still claims they 'discovered' Angkor even to this day even though the villagers always knew of Angkor as the forest hadn't claimed all of it, then there were the many ruins leading up to where it was 'discovered' by the French, quite hillarious really.. if you visit the Guimet in Paris, you can see the best of Angkor pieces hacked then crudely put together on display there, their trophy of 'Angkor discovery'..

Ok, it's not a sin to not see eye to eye.
To each his own but only up to a point.
Especially when you and I have to live in a community.

Do you think we can ever have a free society?
