Oh I should have copied and pasted the median income instead. Chinese 5,100 Malays 3,844 Indians 5,370 Based on your own reasoning, every income statistics of every country, including that of Malaysia, are flawed, since all are using median earnings in helping to formulate their economic policy. too stupid to reason with you.....by your own reasoning....Klang Valley (KL, PJ, Subang Jaya, Shah Alam etc) will have the highest average monthly income in SEA because every freakin billionaires and millionaires in Malaysia live in that area, more than enough to compensate the average salary of many low income people. But how exactly that represent the earning of the average Klang Valley residents? Not much, since many people in Klang Valley area don't even earn $5,000 per month...per household, let alone per person. This would be a good indicator of how much each Singaporean earn every month. Look it up yourself and tell me how many doctors, engineers and accountants in Singapore? 50% of the population??? The majority joes and amoi earn what per month??? http://www.worldsalaries.org/singapore.shtml This post has been edited by 1+1: Jul 17 2011, 06:25 PM |

The data I presented is from the Singapore govt, not something I pull out of thin air. If you have issues with the findings, then take it up the Singapore govt. |

How is this pertinent to the discussion at hand? Its not its there simply to refute a stupid argument another poster has made, it seems that some posters can't seem to stop comparing Malaysia to Singapore. Really??? Singapore is definitely a 1st world country????? Singapore has Russian standard of living. Don't give me this GDP per capita crap. In real life, how many Singaporean really earn at least US$45K per year??????? They'll be lucky if they earn S$2500 per month. Plenty, if you disagree show us some data. I have travelled extensively through Malaysia and have visited Singapore many times with many relatives living there and certainly Singaporeans are wealthier then Malaysians and Singapore is a much more advanced, stable and safer country then Malaysia. too stupid to reason with you.....by your own reasoning....Klang Valley (KL, PJ, Subang Jaya, Shah Alam etc) will have the highest average monthly income in SEA because every freakin billionaires and millionaires in Malaysia live in that area, more than enough to compensate the average salary of many low income people. Bob's point is in median while you are trying to counter his argument with mean incomes, totally different. I suggest you look up the difference between median and mean. |

You can explain it in whatever language you choose, it doesn't make any differece. The fact still remains you don't understand the difference between mean and median, this shows nievity, which to be honest doesn't matter a great deal, we can't know everything about everything. But your indifference towards it demonstrates a certain level of arrogance and your assuption that the only way to make money in Singapore is via the limited number of professions you listed is quite frankly, stupid. The true wealth of a country is measured in GDP. The true wealth of the people in that country can best be measured by GDP PPP per capita, while the wealth distribution in a country, which is difficlut to gauge, but the generally accepted measure is the Gini coefficient. GDP PPP per capita of Singaporeans is consistently in the top 5 in the world, and this includes all professions not just the limited jobs you presented us with, and is nearly 4 times that of Malaysians. It is impossible to absolutely measure the wealth of the people in any country, and calculations have to include estimates and assumptions, but even so it is still very clear that the average Singaporean is wealthier then the average Malaysian, it is not even close. |

Haha again what garbage, Singapore is definitely a 1st world(developed) country. http://www.ayzor.com/2010/top-10-developed-countries.html Singapore is only better than Malaysia in terms of economy but technologically singapore is decades behind malaysia. We design world class car engines while those primitive singaporeans only know how to make $hit water drinkable. And the only reason their economy performed better than malaysia was bacause singaporeans are too dumb to build their own country and depend largely on skilled foreigners. Thats why the median income being touted by singaporeans here is completely misleading. Those figures are for all workers in singapore. But if you exclude the highly paid foreign expats who build singapore, the income of singaporean citizens would be less than that of Malaysians. Singaporeans are poor compared to Malaysians because they are born to clean toilet bowls in the homes of foreign expats; including those from malaysia. |

Not true as of 2006 according to this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Immigrant_workers_in_Singapore, there were 670000 immigrant workers in Singapore. Of that 580000 were low skilled and 90000 were skilled(possibly expats), so the MEDIAN income for Singapore residents would actually be HIGHER then the quoted number and as a result EVEN HIGHER then Malaysians. By what definition is Proton's engine "world class", its a $hit engine for a $hitty car that only sells in Malaysia, It can't compete against the "big boys" of Japan, Europe and South Korea. Even China is overtaking it. And this is despite aquiring Lotus technology. While Singapore's desalination plant is truly "world class" from the point of view it has won international awards for its technology, which even the Europeans are starting to copy. |

Another China ,company use Petronas EO-1 engine. Not a single china company have their own designed engine. BTW Proton cars are xported to the UK and Australia among other countries Bodoh, can't you even tell the difference between Japanese and Chinese? Aiya.. so stupid la, and those people in the black and white look like Malay to me, Nope. The black&white photos are clearly chinese. The bottom one look like a typical present day chineseBTW why do you post such OLD news, what about some new ganja smoking and herion addict bumis? |
