I don't see any thread for Chinese Pop Music or Good Movies, which is a travesty as we have some outstanding artists, and there are three distinctive pop culture markets, PRC, HK and Taiwan, some of which do not cross over,...pity. I'll start by posting one of my current favorites, Jam Hsiao, 蕭敬騰, a Taiwanese even though I'm not too into traditional rock. He's small in stature but he has a great deep voice that sounds much bigger, I just *LOVE* his voice :

I'd like to share several versions of 大海 "Sea" one of the best Chinese pop song ever written by the late 張雨生. It is a heart-wrenching song about losing one's love, the great pain of that loss and the memory of the lover. These are great talent!

The late 張雨生's version is the original, plaintive and poetic :

This is 陈伟联's version, melancholic, gentle and pure, it has some real people at the end of the MV shouting the names of their loved ones out, a nice touch:

楊培安's voice is phenomenal, it is one of the most beautiful voice I have ever heard, and he added a rocking riff to this song, it's really surges like the waves :

Finally, Japan's godfather of Rock, J-Walk, paid an AMAZING tribute to this song, he not only added an incredible rock track, this song poured the feelings out in such a powerful way, it really makes you feel like crying along. He added beautiful Japanese lyrics in the beginning before belting out the original lyrics in Chinese, the transcript for the Japanese lyrics is in the second video. This is my favourite version, cathartic, poetic but ROCKS :

Holy sh1t someone actually mentions this... My parents are obsessed with this song,I want to punch the inventor of karaokes its a great song only when it isn't butchered by my parents...
