Life in a post apocalyptic world, what would you do? Options

Imagine the world as we know it dead and gone buried beneath the ashes of some great cataclysm. Social order remains in some of the larger cities but do the roads becoming the homes of highwaymen supplies are becoming few and far between. No more big government to keep its eyes on its citizenry the best and worst of people have been brought out. Manafacturing is at a standstill and industrilization as we know is no more. Slowly the world is regressing to simpler time and even now cities are becoming states.

How would you fare in such a world?

Ever watched the TV show "The Colony"? Biggest mistake they make is underestimating the importance of security. Although its understandable for people who have not been placed in dangerous environments before.

My priorities would be
- Security
- Water
- Food
- Shelter
- Electricity

I'd pick a site on high ground where I can control how people approach with natural obstacles or with man made ones. I would aim for it to be in close proximity to flowing water like a river or stream. A water filter from a pool system or a home made a sand and charcoal filter would filter the water, then either puri tabs or boiling to sterilize it. Food will be scavenged, traded, grown or hunted. Meat not eaten fresh will be turned into jerky to increase its holding time. Shelter will be established overtime if not already in location. I can get by with a tarp, mozzie net and something to keep me off the ground. Electricity would be my last concern and it would depend on what I could scavenge and rig up.

I'd say I already have a mild case of hoarding so I'd probably scavenge as much as possible, even if the items have no value to me because I can always trade them for something
