"The Portuguese people love to claim me as one of their own, and I don't like that," she told the Interview magazine.
"I also came from Mangalore, which is in the southern part of India, where you have a big Catholic population. Some of them were forced conversions by the British and Portuguese. So I may not necessarily have that kind of lineage. I could pretty much be a Hindu from India... I'm going to do the DNA testing because I''m very curious."
Pinto on Sunday attended the annual Comic-Con fan convention in San Diego, where she was promoting her new film 'Immortals' with Superman actor Henry Cavill.
Meanwhile Welsh actor Rhys Ifans, who portrays the villain Lizard in the upcoming Spider-Man film, was arrested and cited for battery.

"He was abusive, belligerent and aggressive, and shoved a female security guard," San Diego police spokesman Lt. Andra Brown said in a statement on Saturday
Lt Brown said a member of Ifans' "entourage" did not have proper identification to enter Comic-Con. Ifans used his hand to push his way past security, she said. He cursed the staff, hurled insults at the United States and loudly complained: "I don't live here," she said.

Is Pinto a Indian surname too beside portugese ?

Mangalore, being a port city, naturally had a large number of British and Portuguese people, who 'mingled' with the locals and such. Technically speaking, there are hardly any pure 'Indians' here anymore, and the Indo-Portuguese people are considered Indians, and they do have MUCH more 'Indian' blood in them than Portuguese. So I guess you could count Pinto as an Indian name =)
