it's the reason the US sells missiles and other arms to taiwan. it's all to protect wm/af relationships.

^ that's a pretty pathetic analogy i must say
But I think you're being inaccurate, even in its weakest state the KMT refused US bases and advisors in Taiwan , I respect that. can't say the same for some other countries *roll eyes* This post has been edited by orange peel: Jul 30 2011, 10:30 PM |

![]() ^LOL this is one of the first pictures that come up when you type "taiwan" into google. It is natural for nations with common values to love one another. However I know what kind of feelings you want to incite among Taiwanese men. I'm sorry to tell you that it doesn't work that way. Ideally it should work, that I understand. But this method is kinda ancient. Taiwan's is not a medieval society where the issue of individual mating is escalated to national survival. To further explain, an average Taiwanese man would find your picture rather inconspicuous, but find the following pictures amusing. Robots, legs, harlem. ![]() ![]() |

...even in its weakest state the KMT refused US bases and advisors in Taiwan ,... You're positive feelings for KMT made you say things that you wish were true. True, many 2nd Gen Chinese in Taiwan are anti-American. But you can't assume too much just because they have a bit of an identity/loyalty issue, which is common for a lot of 2nd-gen Chinese immigrants anyway. ![]() ![]() You see, in reality, KMT or post-49 ROC government haven't had the status to refuse nor demand for US bases and advisors. It is an agent of US military. US shipped them to Formosa. The new American Institute in Taiwan, currently under construction, is a 65,000 meter square compound in Neihou, Taipei city. The lease is 99 years. This post has been edited by badparticle: Jul 31 2011, 01:42 PM |

^ to the best of my knowledge the AIT serves as what would be otherwise an embassy if the United States and Taiwan had formal relations.
if this is true then you're being terribly misleading. And secondly I'm not sure how it is that you feel you're qualified to call other people's opinions "identity issue". This post has been edited by orange peel: Jul 31 2011, 06:48 PM |

Taiwan is sovereign Chinese territory.
America must not interfere in the Chinese Civil War. CCP has won the mainland, and Taiwan is just a small obstable to Chinese reunification and the resolution of the Chinese civil war. Foreign barbarians beware, we will sink your carriers, shoot down your satilletes, shut down your nation's electrical grid, and shoot ballastic nuclear MIRV off Los Angelos if you dare to intervene in the Chinese civil war. We must ensure barbarians give China the proper respect it deserves as the world's leading superpower of the 21st century. |

I don't see anything wrong in that pic.
I only see happy looking young students (maybe) in there. Is there anything wrong with my eyes? |

Did I misled you into believing that it is an embassy, or that it isn't an embassy? Is it? or is it not? 2. I did not call your opinions "identity issue". You mentioned that KMT refused US bases and advisors. I couldn't understand why you thought that was possible at all, unless you derived this conclusion from the anti-US sentiment exhibited by this group. |

Well I would have been lead to believe that the American Institute was an arm of the US military, which it is not AFAIK, because you listed it in your argument as supporting evidence that there are US military installations in Taiwan...

AIT's new site suggests that the current AIT site is no longer sufficient to carry out future tasks. |

I find it amussing how hardcore TIers are always so free in using the term Formosa. If they can't be Japanese, they rather be Dutch. LOL. Identity issues for sure. sad. Just sad. //Oh yeah, stop trying to claim Hokien or whatever as "Taiwanese". Its one thing to be ashamed of your heritage, but another in trying to hijack parts of our language, writing culture etc. you are pathetic. |
