I think some songs like so are horrible, eg P Diddy's re fu-k of come with me, i mean Led Zeppelin actually let 'em kill a legendary hit.
I think "Let's Go" (changed title), originally by Ozzy, is somewhat butchered but much better than the one above. |

None of those guys can come up with anything original. It's all about money, ho's, drugs', themselves, or gangbanging. Not really suprised they would turn to a different genre for ideas. Thats why i dont even listen to Hip hop that much anymore. To many idiots out there try to emulate the behavior and message that it sends(unfortunatley mostly blacks)
edit: should have probably said African-Americans instead of blacks... This post has been edited by Jasel: Jan 24 2005, 01:01 AM |

Jasel - True about the standard society of the rap genre these days thats why you gotta go back to stage 1 and dig up the classics.
As for rock, there was a group that was original and that was Body Count. Pretty heavy and Ice-T as their frontman. |

its uncreative yes but sampling also has been a recipe for hit records, like puff said "its all about the benjamins"

In all, when it comes down to sampling and making it flow, its not as easy as you think. Chopping and slicing then sequencing it does take time and effort to make it work.
Put it this way, when producers sample like Kanye does with old soul/funk melodies, its a way to revive the legends and keep it alive. Yeah sampling is unoriginal to a certain degree but at the same time they are reminding you of what was classics of the old days. |

^that's cuz diddy just live off other's music. most of his music is ripped off others, and he's suppposedly be one of the most talented in the music industry.

Do you know whats really funny, when i listen to the old rock versions of those songs (cause i love rock) and then some of my friends tell me im a sad case cause its an old song and the lyrics suck, then some new version of it comes out with almost the same lyrics and a little extra *more modern beat* and they end up liking the new version as well as the old |

^ that AAF smooth criminal was cool. WOrd up was a cover ?? from what song?
Lim bizkit's faith made them famous Limp Bizkit sanitarium was really good. And Korn one was ok. Metallica's version was better. I think I heard on the radio some rap song with the beat from the fugees's ready or not. Whats the matter? run out of beats ?? lol. I'm not a rap fan but I think Dr Dre's 2001 album was good. |

QUOTE (hakseng @ Feb 3 2005, 04:14 PM) Word up is originally a song by cameo. I guess AAf's cover was ok but i still prefer the original song. Plus michael video was better. That video was the epitome of cool with the way he threw the quarter into the jukebox. This post has been edited by chicken_pot_pie: Feb 3 2005, 04:43 PM |

It's ok, Like tha 'Let's Go' - Trick Daddy & Lil Jon song was good. But that Linkin Park & Jay-Z CD was a rip off |
