according to this, Tondo is a 1000 years old. I thought the place was only developed after Rajah Sulayman evacuated Maynilad.

"Historically, Tondo was first mentioned in the Laguna Copperplate Inscription found in the National Museum of the Philippines, dated April 21, 900. See History of the Philippines."

Apparently they had a translation of this plate roaming somewhere. Sort of reminiscent of "The Wanderer" in old english. Anyone know of this?

no offense, but FW you seem anti Luzonite/Manila all the time.

of course there are alot of older towns and "civilizations" other than tondo. but even so it is a popular theory that Luzon was people by Malayans first (not proto Malayans)

and to say that "Tondo smells spanish" is quiet incongruent.

1. Tondo existed way before the Spanish came.

2. It is where Panday Pira, and Rajah Sulayman and much of Maynilad's "anti Spanish insurgents" continued to thrive. in fact though Sulayman died shortly afterward he did raise another rebellion from Tondo, where he lived after his expulsion and taking over of Maynilad. In fact it think Bonifacio was also raised in Tondo, and the it was one the earlier places where Katipunan was first founded.

3 On the other hand it is a common knowledge that "pintados" (I'm mostly Visayan and I'm saying this) where the first tribes who helped the Spanish.
