There is no wrong if you claim Khmer as Cham.. We respect their ethnic!! And we believe everyone have something to proud of! BUT Cham is not Khmer, and Khmer is not Cham! We are not the same even though we are RELATED! I respect your believing. But it seems that many Khmers here agree that Khmer is Cham (Or Cham is Khmer?). It seems that Khmer and Cham are same people. To be clear! Siem is Tai-refugee from Nanchoa! to make no confuse of other Tai! like Tai-Loa, Shan, Lanna.... Lao was not from Nanchao too? So, your Siem jumped over Lao and then landing in now Central Thailand? LOL |

Don't tell a lie! You are yet not success to erase their identity! What lie? It's same process of Khmerization and Laoification in Camboland and Laos. LOL But we are better than you guys, We use the word THAI, not TAI. But you guys use only Khmer and Lao, that's why you got confused!!! Everybody are Khmer and Lao, even they are NOT khmer and Lao. This is why you call 'Khmer Empire'. 555+ |

Thai is just a new comers just little over 60 years ago that does not have anything to do with Lao or Khmer past history or even Tai for this matter from the past. Thai history only a hybrid and nothing more. |

Lao is NOT Tai. And I don't wanna turn this thread to Lao thread. I think people are not interested. Lao is shan and Shan is Tai. These names has been among the Chinese for a very long time since ancient times. Also we used to live like the Hmong today. But, today we are Lao who are of Ai Lao and I-Shan people of today Yunnan southern Chinese. But where do these Siamese or Thai today fit into this category? Their is no trace of them in the oldest Peking history at all!!! I'm sorry, but Siamese or Thai today are just a hybrid of the Khmer/Mon like we said they are! Thai history does not go too far just under 200 years? |

LOL You first Lao identity is Lanxang, created by Khmers people, Lanxang populantion is Lao-Khmer to begin with. Thai/Tai are same word for Siamese. 'Thai' is used for nationality 60 years ago, but also can refer to Siamese proper. |

Let me give you a better picture of Siam.
You can think of Tai in Siam as German American in US. You can think of Mon in Siam as Irish American in US. You can think of Lao in Siam as Hispanic American in US. You can think of Khmer in Siam as Black American in US. They mixed together and form what is called "Siam" |
