The language is Tai dumbass. Laos people speak Tai not Tai people speak Lao 5555 Only 10% of Lao population is Tai. The rest are austroasiatic or hmong-mien and other minor ethnics. Laos = Austroasiatic country practicing Tai culture and speaking Tai language. Kow Jai bor? Though I agree, earlier in history the Thai language was very Austroasiatic. Well that is of course it was Siamese element which is Austroasiatic. Can't deny that fact. Siam became more and more Tai as time went past and eventually even the name of the country changed to reflect the people. Ai kwuay. This is for you to me! that of Thailand and Thai ppl perspective?
