Wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Forget all your troubles and differences and join hands to sing:

Auld Lang Syne
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vfP6U2i1FYU

(from what I remembered in my childhood memories)
Tò te con ma đánh đu
Thằng cha nhảy dù
Cao bồi bắn súng
Chết cha!
Con ma nào đây
Thằng cu đaí dầm
Thằn lằn cụt đuôi!

I bid you adieu.

My memory serves me somewhat differently. I recall the song starting like this:

To te Ro-be (Robert) danh du
Tarzan nhay du

the same after that...

Yes! I got a dragon kite for Christmas and I can tell it will be a good year already. I'm going to tie it to a tall bamboo pole and just let it fly. It will scare the squirrels rampaging my garden. Yep! I'm going to have a bountiful harvest of mushrooms for my pipe and dill weed for my caterpillars this year.

Them squirrels's gotta die!!!

quote "Them squirrels's gotta die!!!"

why so mean to the squirrels. round here squirrels ain't much of a pest. them raccoons on the other hand are such a nuisance. they might be related to the pandas but they ain't cute. I was camping one summer and they kept reaching their filthy claws into the tent and clawed me while we slept. They ripped my sleeping bag.

[shaking fists fiercely /], my nephew was scared witless. Bad raccoons.

Maybe he was scared of the wolfs that kept howling in the night. meh, i don't remember very clearly. one thing is certain though, kids don't like wild animals.

Oh you poor uninformed child. If I tell you that a harmless little squirrel bought down a large scale factory and caused millions of dollars of damage, disruptions that you couldn't have imagine and put the whole city into chaos; you would've think I've gone cuckoo, nevertheless true: http://eetimes.com/electronics-news/404244...power-at-TI-fab.

At my own home, I've planted and nurtured some jackfruit trees from seeds that I've brought over from Vietnam. Everyday I would go outside and drink my lovely cup of coffee, listen to the birds sing and pet my beloved jackfruit tree (all with a smile). Then one day when I was having a lovely day, went to pet my sweet little jackfruit tree, AND IT'S LYING ON THE GROUND!!! Cut from the roots! And there's a squirrel up in a tree chuckling like Alvin the Chipmunk chuckling at me! I fell to me knees and swear, "I'll get you! I'll get you if that's the last thing I do!"

I have more stories about squirrels and they're all sad and depressing; so I'll have to go and finish my bottle of liquor now.

Meanwhile, watch this little clip and see those devilish squirrels in action:

The Texas Instruments power outage is sad, but it can't be all the squirrels' fault. I mean if a lowly vermin can bring down a whole power grid then it's the power grid that we should be concerned about. I mean imagine if a much smarter organizations like crime syndicates, TERRORISTS!!!! or other evil forces bent on destroying America can do. So I think this one can be blame on home land security guys.

As for the attacking squirrel in the video, this one is kinda scary because it's unavoidable. Friends of my siblings have been attacked by them while cycling in the park. one guy almost got his eyes clawed out while feeding them. They can be vicious when they are infected with rabies. I don't mind them though. They jumped me once but no injuries so no biggy icon_smile.gif

Gardenslave, i envy you for living in such warm climate. It must feels just like home. here in canada we grow everything indoors. my sis has a greenhouse so she grows cây na, cây ổi, hoa hồng giấy and other exotic things. as for me i got 2 dying cây ớt and a stunted orchid. I've got orchid that died on me before icon_sad.gif.

To think of it even the water bamboo wasn't growing at all. hope the people i gave it to did a much better job than i did. fingers crossed. so you know what kind of bamboo i am talking about, i include a photo below

mine was 14 trillion times better than the ones in the photo of course, that goes without saying

If you are just starting elsewhere in business, why would you need to spend filthy lucre on high-quality corporate stationery? Don't you receive advantage things to problem apropos and disburse your small resources on?

There's a gargantuan story everywhere Garibaldi, the with it day liberator of Italy and this story when one pleases let slip you something important. One era Garibaldi was fa‡ade a whopping governmental army which was coming to crunch his much smaller army. He was false up into the mountains. What he didn't identify was that the governmental army was demoralized and not terribly fervid to war him in the maiden chore but of course he had to assume that they were.
fahrtenbuch
What Garibaldi did was to arrange some cannon at one bound of a mountain arete and some cannon at the other end. He let his artillerists do some unpractised firing, as though they were testing their range.

To the hostile army, it looked like Garibaldi's army was so generous that it stretched from only objective of the mountain top edge to the other. They job out disappoint their imaginations capture as a remainder, and they concluded that his army was huge, well-equipped, and mercifully dug in along an unmixed mountain ridge. They retreated and Garibaldi was qualified to keep up edifice his mini army into a bountiful one. Later he succeeded completely.

Tantrums are middle the most scabrous things that parents tease to administer with. When a child is having a meltdown, it can be so frustrating that it may be seductive because the origin to obtain a meltdown as well. And if you invite anyone who has raised at least at one issue, they when one pleases likely touch on you that dealing with tantrums can be an illogical and confounding challenge. It is not like dealing with an piqued mature; kids handle their anger in entirely different ways, and they seldom empathize with well to the types of things that we use to defuse tense situations involving grownups.

Of process, since all children are different, there is no solitary tantrum solution that works in favour of all, but if you venture these strategies for stopping tantrums, you should be expert to find at least single that works in requital for your child.

Johnson's defense of the email is: "I was sharing my personal reflections with a alter ego through my hidden email account -- not the toss one's hat in the ring account," Johnson said. "They were reflections on over 25 years of formal, theological swot" based in "established Christian doctrine." But if that's the clearance he feels, are there others in the reactionary Santorum offensive who handle the same way?

This sort of explanation and mindset is an abuse to women everywhere. We aren't required to be direction institutions of the family, the church, and the state? What are you talking about? Women maintain evermore ruled the tradition of the family. Set in patriarchal families where the virile makes decisions here bucks and long-term goals, the miss still rules. She runs the day to daytime aspects of the relatives and thereby ends up making all the decisions. If the girl wasn't doing that the "convention" of the patriarch would be undermined. I think it would be genuinely illusory if all stay-at-home mothers took a week in error - all at the having said that in good time always - the husbands would then be enduring an gain of how much those mothers contribute to the m‚nage and how much they rule.

Are you kidding me! There's no way to outsmart a squirrel. One time I thought I had a squirrel beat by hanging a bird feeder on a long string on a tree limb so that they couldn't get to the seeds. Maannn, I was lying there sipping a fine cool drink and patting myself on the back for such a fine ingenious invention. There's no way that SOB can get through such a foolproof idea. Then that damn bastard just BIT OFF THE STRING!!! And the whole thing just fell spattered to the ground with all the seeds that he wants! I made me do a spit take wetting over myself.

Look at that date on that Texas Instruments power outage. That's days after 9/11 where the whole nation was on alert for terrorist actions. There's no way that that event can be foreseen. You can pretty much have a laser guided system that could shoot enemy aircrafts but how about a terror minded flying squirrel?!

Well actually it gets below freezing down here for a few days every year so I think my jackfruit tree would probably never survive. I got it growing during the few years by bringing it into the house if it does freeze. So that squirrel probably save my jackfruit tree from the inevitable slow death in the cold. Nevertheless, I don't want to thank him and I need to kill and bury him because he makes good fertilizer for my persimmon tree.

But I was able to grow a bunch of stuff:

My main interests are flowers.

Those are real nice water lily and lotus flowers. Did you grow any hoa mai or hoa đào, they would be great for tết ..... icon_sad.gif do you actually have jack fruit tree and persimmon tree? If so them I am really envious.

Don't worry too much about them squirrels. Year of the dragon is coming up, the dragons will eat them all, even the flying ones. This year is a cat year, cats and squirrels are cousins so it's only normal that squirrels get things going their way. Absolutely normal if you ask me icon_smile.gif

Just that you know dragons have already shown up in Vietnam so sooner or later they will might show up right in your back yard. Just take a look at the photo below if you don't believe me icon_smile.gif

see that gardenslave, in Vietnam dragons fly by Vietnam airlines and children love them. They have been sighted everywhere so keep your hopes up man, the squirrels are as good as DEAD!!!!!!

Here is another proof of their existence. Not only are they in Vietnam but they have broods. As you can see the kids take the baby dragon with them on the xích lô ride icon_smile.gif. I think it's for show and tell at school. As for the kids on the other side of the road, those Viet kids are special, like the dragons they are everywhere.

And this photo in Huế captures not one but two dragons and a toddler who seems to like the dragons except the woman in blue, she seems taken aback. I heard central women like blue aó dài, I believe it's true. I hold the digitally modified photo below as proof icon_smile.gif

Hey, WTH, what are you trying to pull; those children are not allowed on the tarmac, the dragon might eat them.

They should be on the dragon's back riding it.

Hey, WTH, seems odd. One of the special kids changed his hat as if by magic, and he's not smiling as if he's having a grudge with someone. Did you do something to him? And why is that lady just walking gingerly down the street in a white ao dai? Doesn't she know that it's Tet and she should be in a more colorful uniform?

Hmnn..... Hey, WTH, what are you trying to pull? Those dragons are soaring over Huế. Seems odd..... They should be soaring over Hanoi so that the prime minister can rename Hanoi to Thanh Long. And why is that woman so emotionally remote and sad, is it because her ao dai is rendered blue? I believe Huế women prefer purple. That kid is locked up in that castle like Rapunzel. Someone save her from the treachery of the evil rendering digital master.

Yes I do have hoa mai and hoa đào, but they don't want to flower in time for Tết though. Maybe they're not the Vietnamese variety. I have this hoa mai (forsithia) variety.

But I'm not sure what wrong with mine, there's maybe only a few flowers on it each year.

I have this hoa đào (red cherry blossom) but it only flowers in the summer, with only one flower facing downward like it's crying. Don't know what the deal is.

I bought it hoping that there'll be someone going Ooooohhhh and Aaaahhhhh over it but my hopes have faded with a poor performing tree.

Nice thinking. I didn't think about Viet kids riding dragons when i made them photos.

I totally agree, the lady on the street should be in peach or purple that would be much prettier. Unfortunately, the original photo came in that color.
As for dragons soaring over Hanoi, that's another great idea. I didn't think of that either. You seem to have a lot of good ideas. As for the blue áo dài, i tried to change to hue to purple but the color came out wrong, so we are stuck with this blue thingy.

Yes I do have hoa mai and hoa đào, but they don't want to flower in time for Tết though. Maybe they're not the Vietnamese variety. I have this hoa mai (forsithia) variety.

Round here, these flowers don't bloom till April. They don't compare to our hoa mai though. But i like them still.

I bought it hoping that there'll be someone going Ooooohhhh and Aaaahhhhh over it but my hopes have faded with a poor performing tree.

Ah, Mr. Gardenslave and his faded hope icon_smile.gif. We know your issues even before you were born. That's why we created Tết. That's what Tết is for, to forget our sorrows and failures and raise our hopes for the future. To lift your spirit up for the year of the dragon just a little, I searched the internet and found this genuine article about dragons sightings in Hanoi. Too bad it's not a soaring dragon yet.

DRAGONS SIGHTED IN THE STREETS OF VIETNAM

SNN special assignment correspondant reports dragon encounters in Vietnam on the rise.

"I came to Hanoi to cover the the upcoming Tet but never expected this." said SNN reporter.
"As I was carrying my luggage to the hotel I heard children shouting and laughing excitedly so I turned around to see what the comotion was all about." SNN reporter continued.

"Nothing in my life could ever prepare me for it, there was a 15 foot high massive fiery red dragon marching merrily right in the middle of the road!" laughs.
"Needless to say, I dropped everything and immediately stopped passersby for interviews"

Follow are what Vietnamese have to say about these magnificient creatures.

Xích Lô man
SNN: "what is your opinion about dragons roaming the streets of Vietnam?"
Xích Lô man: "I have mixed feeling about this. Dragons are good omen, they bring good fortunes and it"s good for toursism. The government likes them a lot and children adore them. They are very well behaved, they go in their own lane, never hold up traffic and very courteous and all. But they don"t ever ride the xich lô so that"s not good for me. No money!" Mr. Xích Lô man smiles. Then he added
"Yeah, it's alright. They are hugmongous, probably wouln"t fit in my xich lô anyway" laughs

The children standing on the other side of the street
SNN: "Do you like dragons?"
Children: "we love dragons."
"I rubbed the belly of a dragon and my mom gave me tons of money and tết is not even here yet" bé Liên exclaimed
"Your mom feared Mr. Dragon might mistake you for a snack" bé Thu added
"I want to be a dragon when I grow up" bé Hoa said
"no one dares come within 10 feet of you imagine you being 15 foot tall and breath fire" bé Thu commented then proceeded to make a "v" sign with her fingers and raised her hand into the air and shouted
"dragons number one! dragons number one!..." the children laughed and chased the dragon down the street.

This is a true story, I am Serpent and I endorse this story.

See that gardenslave, dragon bring good fortune so the coming year might be your lucky year. Remember to rub their belly hahahaha!!!!!!

There seem to be a lot of dragons being spotted in and around Hà Nội, but they are more of a garden variety. They walk the earth and work the land. Here is a farm slave trying something I don't think should be legal, plowing his field using a dragon.
Ah, farming Viet style. Got to love it.
As for the special children, don't mind them they are everywhere!!!!

Below is another farming dragon i think or just out to destroy the rice fields? If so then bad dragon

More land bound dragon, this one was found following the people to Tet market early one morning. It is quite rare to see golden dragon, this one must worth like a million buck or more.

Sorry no luck locating Hanoi soaring dragon, but I found something I deduced must be from Phù Đổng village. Man I tell ya, Việt children are too strong. Just see it for yourself.

May the dragon be with you.
