sok sa bai biggrin.gif , Hey So my name is Ven, im 16 and I found out that I was Khmer Chen like, 4 monthes ago? I was kinda shocked because I assumed we were pure khmer but turns out I'm part chinese love2.gif . Don't know why I didn't figure it out before , my mom is really light, and my dad is somewhat dark, and im alot ( alot) lighter then my sister is.

So just trying to see if there are some other khmer chen (not many asian people where I live ) hehe Also im assuming that myth of khmer people owning donut stores is true because we own one as well haha.

I'm Khmer Chen , only 25% Khmer and 75% Chen.
But I never Identify me as Chen , I always said that I were Khmer.
My whole proud belongs to Cambodia and to my Khmer People , at home
we only speak Khmer and we have many Khmer Items.

I don't feel a connection with China like I feel to Cambodia.
Its everything Khmer Pride biggrin.gif

However you are not the only Khmer Chinese , there are thousands of us.
I live in Germany and the most khmer people here are khmer chinese or full chinese but speaking khmer and feel like khmer people.

And ithinkasia most Khmer not proud of those temple stone... They even don't really care much but they are proud of their tradition which their way of life very set very high maner!

I'm Khmer and Chinese as well. I was shocked that I'm part Chinese instead of Vietnamese embarassedlaugh.gif. I don't speak Khmer nor Chinese icon_neutral.gif, but I'm planning to learn Chinese in future. When I was young I thought I was part Vietnamese because I was born speaking Vietnamese. Both my parents are Khmer-Krom, so that explain why I can speak Vietnamese.... Other than that My parents and older sibling speak both Vietnamese and Khmer because they were born Vietnam. My grandfather is the only who can Chinese. Me and My younger sister is only one who can't speak Khmer. It used to bother me that I can't speak the language but I'm fine with now. I think speaking Vietnamese is quite useful since there a lot of Vietnamese here.

I do tell people that I'm Khmer and Chinese. People do not believe when I told them I'm part Khmer because I don't have that Khmer look.

I look more like East Asian because my Chinese Skin and many People think that I am Korean,Chinese, Japanese or Vietnamese.
Its true that I am more Chinese then Khmer but like you already said , I feel much more connected to Cambodia then to China.
Many People were realy suprised if I am say that I am a part Khmer and that my Homeland is Cambodia instead of China.

You guys are right!!! and one more thing Khmer is very joys full.. When South Korean come to Cambodia they very suprice to see Cambodian people always smile and joysfull there is no trace into the suffer of Khmer Rough among our people emotional... We still smile and welcome everyone in!!! Unlike South Korean their attitude was change to a bit more aggressive after the Japanese leave in WWII. I am not sure it is true but that is my Korean friend tell me, and my friend who experiences working with them but anyways Korean is nice here...

It's very surprised that there are still many Chen and Yuan left in cambodia. I though they were wiped out by Khmer Rouge.

There are many documents about Khmer Rouge state that their agenda is to get rid of all NON-KHMER in Cambodia. I think it's from French brainwashed you Khmer to think that Khmer is superior race. That's why everybody must be Khmer in Cambodia, or otherwise they would be killed or degraded/look down. Even Chinese like you, claim to be Khmer. LOL
