The Chinese' domination of local Indonesian wealth, or something like that are obviously just the myth.
In fact, you can find the poor Chinese in everywhere so easily. Even poorer than the locals majority...

But why the arrogant Chinese think that they're the master to the natives. embarassedlaugh.gif

There is no doubt that Chinese dominated Indonesian economy.

QUOTE
In a 1995 study published by the East Asia Analytical Unit of Australia's Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, approximately 73 percent of the market capitalization value of publicly listed companies (excluding foreign and state-owned companies) were owned by Chinese Indonesians. Additionally, they owned 68 percent of the top 300 conglomerates and nine of the top ten private sector groups at the end of 1993.[106] This figure propagated the general belief that ethnic Chinese—then estimated at 3 percent of the population—controlled 70 percent of the economy.

Most Indonesian native are still poor. That is why there are so many Indonesian native women become maid in Malaysia to support their family in Indonesia.

The tone and content of your message is extremely racist and arrogant. What evidence do you have to accuse the Chinese of being arrogant? What exactly is your point?

Being an Indon native why don't you:
Ask yourself why you hate the Indon Chinese so much.
Ask your other Indons why they hate the Chinese.
Ask Indons if they accept their Chinese counterpart as equal as Bumiputra.
Then tell us what the real feeling of Indons is towards their Chinese counterparts.

The Chinese are not much different.
You should notice that the Chinese Indonesians are not so homogeneous, they consist of several tribes (mostly southern Chinese), but they are united in one name, "Tiong Hua" / "Tionghoa" in Hokkian Indonesian dialect.
e.g. the Hokkian tribe are generally rich, Hakkas are generally the poorest, and so on. However, it just stereotype.

Also, i don't think Wikipedia is a reliable source.
The Chinese greediness are well-known to the world.
They are known to make money in dishonest manner.
They are known to introduce corruption by bribing. And many more...

You obviously never done any research on genetics. Chinese is an ethnic, Hokkien and Hakka are classifications based on languages. All Han Chinese share similar ancestor. At least I got source, even though it's wikipedia while you don't have. Since you got problem with wikipedia, I will use other source.

Chinese wealth

Deregulation in the 1980s began to reveal the extent of the wealth amassed by the biggest ethnic Chinese conglomerates, and led to a national debate on how to redress the balance.

In 1990, President Suharto was forced to respond to increasing anger over the dominance of the Chinese by summoning the country's leading tycoons to his cattle ranch in West Java - where they were asked to hand over 25% of their equity to co-operatives.

The move alarmed foreign investors, but in the event was only cosmetic. Yet the perception of all ethnic Chinese was harmed by the powerful position attained by a few.

Soon capital flight was added to their crimes. They had not only hijacked the economy, they took their money out of the country when political instability threatened.

Beside, it not just native Indonesian women working as maid in Malaysia, there are also native Indonesian men working as labour in Malaysia in construction area. Most of the low class jobs that not wanted by Malaysian are done by native Indonesian. Most Indonesian Chinese in Malaysia are university/college students who can afford the fees. Your accusations of Chinese being greed or make money in dishonest manner are totally baseless.

Do you remember this Lee Kuan Yew quote?

QUOTE
"Let me sum it up nicely, why you must have a government in Singapore which is really firm, stout-hearted, subtle and resolute. My neighbours both have problems with their Chinese. They are successful, they are hard working and therefore, they are systematically marginalized, even in education. There are quotas to prevent you.

It's not just in Indonesia where the Chinese are more successful than the native, in Malaysia, the Chinese are also more successful than the native. Below are the top 40 richest Malaysian according to Forbes.

As you can see, despite being the minority, the majority of them are Chinese. Are you telling me they make money in dishonest manner and involve in corruption? Do you have evidence to claim that? Singapore, one of the most economically successful country in southeast asia is dominated by Chinese.

Dear 222, dont blame the Chinese for your failure.

Indonesia, esp Javanese, have that reputation too. Indonesia or Malaysia are always number 1 in the corruption index.
Indonesia doesn't need Chinese to suck the lands dry, because the Indonesians already do it themselves.
The rich stay rich with unfair business and the poor stay poor.
The poor wanted someone to point fingers at, and the rich gave it to them. Communist Chinese.
So instead of punishing the corrupt rich Indonesians, the people brawled out at the Chinese.
Apparently you think greed, corruption, bribing and dishonesty is the reputation for Chinese.
But if you open your eyes you see that every nation, every religion or every group is guilty and worthy for that reputation.

The face of greed and corruption in Indonesia: Aburizal Bakrie the current chairman of Golongan Karya Party or Golkar, he is listed in the top ten wealthiest people in Indonesia, was the chief economic minister (amazingly!) whose company PT Lapindo Brantas whose drilling and exploration in Sidoarjo caused unstoppable mud flow, destroying villages and causing hundreds of thousands of misplaced villagers, all done with total impunity...

QUOTE
The Sidoarjo mud flow or Lapindo mud, also informally abbreviated as Lusi, a contraction of Lumpur Sidoarjo (lumpur is the Indonesian word for mud), is a mud volcano[1] in the subdistrict of Porong, Sidoarjo in East Java, Indonesia that has been in eruption since May 2006. This biggest mud volcano in the world was created by the blowout of a natural gas well drilled by PT Lapindo Brantas, although company officials contend that it was caused by a distant earthquake.

At its peak Lusi was spewing up to 180,000 m³ of mud per day[2], but as of early 2011 it still averages approximately 30,000 m³ (1 million cubic feet) of mud per day.[3] It is expected that the flow will continue for the next 25 to 30 years.[2][4] Although the Sidoarjo mud flow has been contained by levees since November 2008, resultant flooding regularly disrupts local highways and villages. Further breakouts of mud are still possible.[5]

Uuuuu...... the same way you implied that there is no discrimination against the Christians just because you never come across it in your kampong, even though everywhere the Christians face constant discrimination, bullying, attacks and their churches burned?

And do you think by posting Mr Ma's silly coffin stunt proves that all is well, there is equality and no discriminations aganist the Indon Chinese?

QUOTE (Airlangga @ Jul 22 2011, 06:18 AM) *

One person's perspective, no different from your comment about your experience as Christian isn't it? It still doesn't change anything.

Airlangga, since you insist there is no discrimination against Christians where you are, how do you explain yet another attempt to kill more Christians in your country?
