6 down after eating hopia
By Cebu Daily News

SIX schoolgirls from Dumanjug town were rushed to Barili District Hospital last Monday after eating hopia that they had bought from a vendor outside their school.

The victims, all 14-year old high school students from Little Flower School in poblacion Dumanjug, complained of diziness and stomach pains after eating the hopia.

SPO1 Joselito Abella of Dumanjug police station, identified the vendor as a certain "Gerson."

After a few minutes at the school clinic, the victims were transferred to the Barili District Hospital, and the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center.

Personnel from Barili hospital said the children have already been discharged after treatment.
No doctor was available to talk about the case.

Abella said that the students earlier complained to their teachers about the hopia that tasted and smelled bad.

The parents of the victims told police that the school should now require sanitary clearances from vendors.

No parent is willing to file a complaint against Gerson, who is still at large.

Damn, i'm scared to eat hopia now. I used to buy them at Binondo, lol. Did they smell it beforehand? Because if they did, then they shouldn've eaten them.
