If you want to blame anyone, blame Frank for doing something this stupid in his bid to be the next president of Taiwan.

I bet if Mayor Ma claimed he was Taiwanese and spoke Minnan the news channels on Taiwan would have a field day with him as well.
*

well...nothing wrong with that. Ma won't be the first one to do something like that. it's only natural considering that they're all politicians livining in and serving the people of Taiwan. Song said it. Lian said it. Chiang Jr. said it. all politicians did and will. i don't see why the media would specifically pick on him if he makes such comments

product_ako is a queer. The fact is, Ma is a Mainlander from China.

And yes, Chen Sui Bian is a D-Bag. However, isn't vice presideny Lu the one who is more outspoken about Taidu?

following that logic, half of the people in HK/Singapore are Mainlanders despite the fact that many of them have never lived or even set foot on the Mainland (Inland). Ma was merely born in HK but was raised in Taiwan, where he has spent almost his entire life thus far. given Chen's position as the President of the ROC, it's unlikely that he would be as outspoken about declaring formal independence. VP Lu is just plain crazy.

The fact is 97% of the populations on Taiwan are mainlanders from China.

VP Lu represents the ignorant racist people on Taiwan that the DPP often tap for support during elections. It may seem surprising to some of our younger liberal friends on this site, but there is a huge population on Taiwan that support political leaders that say innappropriate things....like LP for instance.

don't forget Japanese blood from intermarriage from the turn of the century up to the late 1940s. Chances are good that he does have Japanese blood. How come he is not showing his Japanese pride as well? After all they did leave many positive legacies in Taiwan. embarassedlaugh.gif2

I only speak the truth. We should acknowledge all the races that have contributed to the "Taiwanese" identity.

Due to the Meiji Restoration, many Taiwanese do embrace the Japanese for modernizing Taiwan at the time and thus explains why many old Taiwanese know how to speak Japanese. ALthough a lot of them were rounded up and killed.

Anyways, he said he has Aboriginal blood, not Japanese blood.

A mixed-blood majority that will not fully accept aboriginal identity and culture should not claim aboriginal descent.
