I think some Khmer are so beautiful.....
My is Samnang which mean lucky.

my name is Chandara.... meaning the sun; moon and star put together i think. (somethng like that)... people i don't know find this name very nice and unique. I have a black girl who name her kid after mine....

at first i was unhappy about my name my parents gave me(that's why i want people to call me by my nickname), until people told my name sound beauitful, then i learn to like it...as i grow older cool30.gif

Hahha same with me! Samnang is more a male name and i used to get tease having a guy name. So i made ppl call me Srey(girl) Nang. My uncle used to say that when my dad told him he had a child named Samnang he went out and brought boy toys so I can play when I get to the U.S.

Thats a good one Ahkabee... LOL I have the exact same name. I can picture someone just yelling that one out already hahah. My parents call me that all the time but the english name I go by would be Sok.. i was born on a Friday so they called my Sok haha original huh? and yes it also means happy, maybe thats why i have a happy nature about me..

really? usually, khmer parents would give both american and khmer names to their american born children especially the newer generation of khmer parents in america.

I don't have a Khmer name either nor do I have a middle name. They named me Monica because 1)I was born here. 2) It resembles a Khmer name Moleka which means flower. My nickname is Ga or Moleka (as my grandpa calls me)in Cambodian.
