no large invading force can conquer the philippines that easily. you simply can't cross the islands without a fight. you may win 1 island at a time but it would take longer than expected. if the saying "together we stand, divided we fall" works for others, "together we fall, divided we stand" works for the philippines. Regionalism is more powerful than nationalism.. so if you attack without attacking all islands at once, you're in for rallies 'STOP THE WAR! STOP THE WAR!' It took years before Spanish concquered the Philippines. The Dutch tried to invade the Philippines but they were driven back into the sea by Filipinos (although their officers are Spanish, but the Filipinos did the fighting and dying) The British tried to control the Philippines, but all they can control is Manila.

It took the Americans 14 years before they controlled the whole Philippines. The Japanese were to take the Philippines within 50 days during WWII, instead it took them 5 months. But Japanese didn't really controlled the whole Philippines because other parts of the Philippines, mostly in the boondocks, were under the guerrillas.

During WWII, the Filipinos showed the world how good they are in guerrilla fighting.

An invading country may take control of Metro Manila and other big cities, but they will have hard time to control the country side.

Would you say that HK and Macau don't rightfully belong to the PRC? Didn't the PRC reacquire these territories peacefully? As for Tibet, that has always been a part of China until the area illegally declared independence. The PRC never provoked any battle with the Tibetans.

As for Taiwan, most UN countries, especially the Phillippines, recognizes Taiwan as part of China. If the island secedes, doesn't China have the right to take it back?

And do you claim that China has been acting belligerently towards its neighbors recently? Overall, has China done more good or bad towards the Phillippines? They're trade partners, and China has never put the Phillippines integrity on the line, and China has sent many diplomats all over Asia to promote mutual growth.

its easy to take the cities but if you ever been out side of the cities..its like guerilla paradise...the combinations of mountainous terrian and thick jungles make vietnam look like a cake walk.,,any conventional army crazy enough to invade better be prepared to spend years fighting an enemy who hits and runs(a guerilla war has been going on for more than 50 years between the government and various rebels)..so they have mastered this type of fight...so who ever is dumb enough to come in un-invited better be prepared to sacrifice alot of their own men to the meat grinder...we got home field advantage.

Yes, I think we have more then 100,000 soldiers. We recieved some new Cyclone Patrol ships from the US. And our air-force is not that obsolete, we have F-4 fighters. I think the Philippines would survive. Don't underestimate the fighting spirit of the filipinos. Besides we have a treaty with the US, that if we are attacked the US will come and help us.
