Macau casino operator scraps Cambodia development plan Greek Mythology Entertainment Group, a Macau casino operator 20 percent owned by Hong Kong-listed A-Max Holdings Ltd., scrapped a $50 million plan to build a casino in Cambodia, South China Morning Post reported, citing Greek Mythology's Vice Chairman Michael Chan. Greek Mythology scrapped its plan to build the casino resort in Poipet on the Thai border on fears that Thailand's imminent plan to legalize casino gaming would drain the project of Thai customers, the Hong Kong-based English language daily reported. A-Max shares have plunged 81 percent this year after surging almost 700 percent in 2004 on the investment in Greek Mythology, which uses a license for gaming tycoon Stanley Ho to operate a casino in Macau, the only place in China were casinos are legal. http://www.lasvegassun.com/sunbin/stories/.../519288505.html What do you guys think? |

I have not finish reading your source, yet, no need to anyways.
Comprehensively, Cambodia is very poor, adequate in terms of schooling, education, jobs, standard of living and most importantly no government assistance. Back to the topic regardless of foreign Casino inside Cambodia territory, its has no significant contribution for the local people. On other hand Casino tends to increase gangs, criminals, prostitutions, violating domestic laws, in addition its created and contributed greater pains to ordinary khmers and the image of the country. Speaking of Casino, you are talking about gambling, conflicts, and people tends to wast theirs money ,rather than doing somethings that contributes to the country. Cambodia already has enough problems, increasing more problems will do no good for the country. What do you think? |

I read that in some casinos in Poipet, while on duty, the workers are to only speak Thai and not Khmer. Khmer people aren't even allowed in apparently, unless they're working there. O_o...
